New Audi A4 - Chris79

Hello All,

Am looking to buy a new A4 2.0 TDIe in SE Spec. If I buy on PCP the dealer is willing to give me 2020 pounds off the car (APR 7.5% on PCP) with a moderate trade in value. Now I know that I need to get a better trade in on my existing Audi A3, but my question is what sort of discount do you think I should be pushing for on the A4?

Your part-ex clouds this question significantly, but on a straight cash/finance deal on the A4 you should be looking at at least 9%. Why not get a couple of quotes from brokers ?

I've got a couple of quotes from brokers and I know that I can get about 2500 pounds off. Realising that a main dealer is highly unlikely to be able to match this I am wondering what the best I can expect is (9% being about the 2000 pounds already offered). However this is taking Audi finance which is off course beneficial to them.

Get a cost to change and negotiate this, then talk about how you are going to pay for it.

If you get no discount on a new one, but well above book on your A3 does it really matter? Chances are the final paperwork will have different trade in and new car price figures anyway!

Negotiating PCP rates at the same time as trade in values, new car discount etc etc clouds the deal as salesmen will invariably start talking "so much per month" to confuse the buyer.

Why do you think this ? If you buy from a broker they still allocate a supplying dealer, so they have to supply for this price minus any kickback for the broker.

I bought an Audi A3 last year form a main dealer and got the 5dr Sport price to the car broker level - although I probably paid a bit more for the options in the end.

I then sold it back to them at way above book 6 months later (long story) and they re-sold it for £5 less than I paid for it.
