Ford Escort 1600 petrol 1998 - Brake fluid change - freman

In the servicing manual for this car it recommends changing the brake fluid every 3 years irrespective of mileage, which I have been doing over the last 10years I've had the car.

I am now told this is all old hat & is no longer necessary. The fluid I have been using is to Dot 4 spec, purchased in the last few weeks from Halfords & is their own brand.

Any advice please.

hi

you are doing the right thing buy changing the fluid as brake fluid takes water out of the air over time and the boiling point of the fluid goes down, any maker of Dot 4 fluid be it

halfords or ford they should be interchangerbull

Perhaps someone should tell the car makers!

:-)

Anyone who tells you something like that should be asked to prove it...
