Hi There,
Two weeks ago I purchased a 2009 VW Passat 2.0 Petrol and have a couple of issues.
When I get to 50mph in 6th gear I get a high pitched noise under slight acceleration. On top of this and it could be related there is a slight vibration at higher speeds which I though would be wheel balance since there are 4 new tyres. The car is going back to the garage to check a couple of things along with the vibration I just wondered if anyone had a similar experience?
The car has done 23,000 miles.
Thanks in advance. Read more
The car is a 2002 Audi A3 1800 T sport auto. The car drives normally and then suddenly the traction control light comes on. The car then loses power and bangs loudly as though it has just driven over a very deep pothole, the revs fluctuate and the car occasionally stalls. It is impossible to drive the car until the ignition has been switched off and the engine restarted, which resets the system. Then the car will be ok until the next time it happens (which may be an hour or a day). Scanning the car showed the following fault codes -
Engine - po102 - mass airflow sensor
EPC - 01166 - engine torque signal
EPC - 01045 - tiptronic switch... Read more

Not sure about the petrol Xsara but some PSA cars have a push fit bottom rad hose connector that locks in place with a metal clip which slots into grooves in the plastic. Prise the metal clip off then pull and twist the hose to extract the end from the rad.
My Xantia TD had this setup which was fine until a garage forgot to put the metal clip back properly, the hose connector popped out and the car dumped all its coolant on the floor as I backed it out of the garage!...
Problem has got worse sincemy garage changed the thermostat. Car will run for 10 mins then all warning lights come on and the car starts to lose power.
Any help would be appreciated. Read more
The fan can run continuously when the engine is running hot. It can also happen if the thermostatic switch fails, so may be nowt to do with an engine problem. As madf says, more info needed. what is the temperature gauge doing before power loss? You may have airlocked cooling system,so bad circulation, worn water pump, head gasket failed? Is fan on with ignition and a cold engine? Engine oil and ATF oil ok?
Hi all, Ive got a1.8 mondeo that is overheating no matter what I do (although the needle only goes over the halfway mark at low speeds/at idle) I drove it 16 miles last night and the needle soared skyward only whilst in slow traffic/idling
The hoses are all intact, there is no gunk in the system (very recently flushed through several times and has new coolant in system). Ive bought and fitted a new thermostat to no avail. new expansion tank cap too.... Read more
Sounds like the electric fan is not kicking in. Regards Peter

A mate has suggested fittting a new temp gauge sender unit -which I will try too- but does anyone have any other suggestions? No one seems to know whats going on.
Many thanks in advance

Thats why boggles you'r engine will keep running and running in the long run you win :)
I have seen almost every 9/11 documentary since this incident happened. The eyewitness footage as well as the fringe "conspiracy" theories. And this year is no exception with numerous "new" accounts across the terrestrial and satellite channels using the same interview stories and archive film. For years I have been fasinated and enthralled by the filmwork and accounts of those involved, survived or were bereaved.
Okay mark the event with reverence, but is it time to let go. I would hope the yearly fasination for viewing the already worn footage will stop after the 10th. anniversary. Frankly I'm tired of it now. The shock of witnessing it live on TV, the sympathy for those that died and those left bereaved had a profound effect on me. My thoughts are with them at this time. My Dads birthday also coincides with this date. It is a time for private thoughts.... Read more
