can a dealer or mechanic put on fold in mirrors and reverse parking, on a used car? Read more
Wondering if any backroomers have had recent experience of if VW dealers will match or better the price of brokers for a new Golf. Tried asking today but dealer was not prepared to give a figure unless I was willing to deal there and then.(I`m still not sure of which metallic paint) I was a cash buyer no part ex. Dealer tried confusing figure by adding GAP/PAINT PROTECTION & £250 3yr servicing for approx £700+ (dicounted!) Read more
This is exactly how I bought my Audi. I got the broker price, showed it to them and said all you have to do is agree to this now and I'll buy from you. If not I'll just go to the broker and I might have to buy from a dealer 100 miles away. They matched the price to £50 of course. Any dealer that wouldn't are just plain stupid !
Of course I am talking about a cash deal so no PX.
My turbo has died and I need to identify which turbo I need, the car is running and I need it so I can't strip out the original. The car is year 2000 and it's a light pressure turbo, the top plate covering the plugs is red and the engine number is B204EDM00Y037203. An aftermarket turbo company told me to contact Saab UK and ask for a OEM number but Saab UK were totally unhelpful and said they didn't know what I meant.
Can anyone help with this problem ?... Read more
A good turbo reconditioner will repair or supply a new turbo while you wait there are a couple in Leeds with this service .If you really need the type may I suggest you try one of the many Saab forums.
Hi,
I've seen loads of sites that supply pre-painted panels but none that do doors. Is there any reason why not? Does anyone know of a supplier? Read more
I suspect many prefer to source original doors off a same age motor from a breakers Pat. It`s what I did last time - easy, a five minute job with no trim to swap and the quality of the manufacturers original build.
The last time I looked around a sc***yard French cars were the very best for galvanizing. torn metal on damaged bodywork was not even starting to rust. You would never get that quality of galvanizing (really none) on a none original body part....

It could be the starter motor. Sometime the old method of rocking the car forwards and backwards in second gear may free it if it's jammed. Or get someone to help you and push-start it.

Might be a dry bearing on the alternator? That can make a dreadful din. Can be stopped with a drop or two of oil just behind the drive belt pulley, followed by a squirt of WD40 if you want to take it further in.

Hi, i'm about to borrow about £8000 towards our next car, i am self employed and was wondering if it makes a difference to how much you can claim back, wether i take out a personnal loan or have straight hp with the dealer. On £8K the total amount of interest payable is £963pounds, and going with dealer finance its £1220 interest. I am not vat registered. thanks. Read more
I presume that you mean by "claim back" the amount of tax relief available to you.
By both HP and by loan finance (as well as Conditional Sale, Lease Purchase and Contract Purchase), you are the beneficial owner of the car and the tax treatment is exactly the same for either method. This includes tax relief on the interest paid as well as depreciation, running costs etc....

Parking sensors is a doddle - I've done it.
