Peugeot 205 - Water pump maybe? - reticentfish

HI, my car seems to have developed a weird noise when i take my foot of the gas, seems to only happen when my foots only just on the pedal Ie when coming of the revs or starting to accelerate, its a sort of mid range whine if i find the spot on the accelerator i can keep the noise constant but give it more or less gas it goes away only seems to happen when car has warmed up and at above 25 30 mph its a 93 1360 petrol

Sounds as though it could be a leak on the inlet manifold or something connected to the air intake.

Might be a dry bearing on the alternator? That can make a dreadful din. Can be stopped with a drop or two of oil just behind the drive belt pulley, followed by a squirt of WD40 if you want to take it further in.
