Not sure about the petrol Xsara but some PSA cars have a push fit bottom rad hose connector that locks in place with a metal clip which slots into grooves in the plastic. Prise the metal clip off then pull and twist the hose to extract the end from the rad.
My Xantia TD had this setup which was fine until a garage forgot to put the metal clip back properly, the hose connector popped out and the car dumped all its coolant on the floor as I backed it out of the garage!
