My motorbike has developed a fault and im stuck for ideas. After a steady run at motorway speeds, once I close the throttle to slow down, the engine jerks as though its being starved of fuel. Feels very similar to the good old days when your bike ran onto reserve and you had to grope about to switch the fuel tap onto 'reserve'. If I open the throttle it pulls away nice and clean, but shut it again and it feels jerky (like surging).
Performance is otherwise generally ok except that when the engine is hot, the idle is always a bit rough and lumpy (but sweet and crisp when the engine is cold). Any ideas please? By the way, the bike has fuel injection and is the same one thats in the Honda Blackbird.

Hi i was wondering if anybody here could help me. I have a 1998 S plate 1.4 Megane. When the engine is off or the engine is on i cannot get it into first gear. Second gear is hard to achieve but it is possible. ALso whilst the engine is running there is a very violent vibrating around the whole car. Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance Read more
Hi, if the engine/gearbox rattles with it not in gear, it sounds suspiciously like maybe the clutch is out of alignment, which would also explain why you can't get it in gear as well.
Have you had anything done to the clutch/gearbox recently? There are obviously other possibilities, but i'd go with that for a starter for 10.
Hope this helps.
I replaced the master cylinder on a citroen zx 1.9 diesel, also replaced rear wheel cylinders.
Handbrake was not holding so adjusted the pawl on both rear drums resulting in a nice firm handbrake.
My problem now is after bleeding whole system the brakes feel mushy with no stopping power......it feels like there is still air in the system!
I removed both front calipers(bendix) and pushed pistons in and out to check they were not siezed, I also greased the sliders/pins.
with the rear wheels raised the handbrake is holding firm yet pressing the brake pedal results in the wheels not holding firm???
I have read horror stories about citroen brakes.....have I bled them in the wrong sequence or have I missed something else?
Someone also mentioned a "dosseur" valve on some citroens....what exactly is this and has the zx got one?
I am really stumped on this one and would really appreciate some advice.
Ta in advance. Read more
ZX brakes with the rear drums are very prone to poor performance and a stodgy feel. They can need going right through with all new parts to get them anywhere near.
A couple of comments on your problem.
Might be worth replacing the rear shoes, they may look OK and you'd think the adjusters would bring worn shoes close to the drum but it doesn't work like that.
Also the biggest thing... fitting a used master cylinder is a big no for me. I'd never ever fit used braking hydraulic parts. How do you know it isn't in poor condition?

Can anyone tell me where I can aquire/purchase a circuit diagram for a Kangoo van 05 reg Haynes don't appear to do one, Peter Russek Publications do one which is good on the mechanical but the print on the circuit diagrams is bad to read and there's no componant ID Read more

Through son #1 distracting me, I managed to rip a hole in the sidewall of the NSR tyre of the Outback. I know that I could do with at least one new tyre elsewhere on the car and I need to get the spare replaced urgently.
Buying four new tyres seems sensible, putting the spare I have just used back in the boot. But, I don't really like the Geolanders that come as standard as I never go off road and would prefer something comfortable like a Michelin, but don't know what to go for. Any ideas anyone?

A femail friend had a blowout today and wanted a new Pirelli zero rosso tyre. One quote was £185, another was £115 both fully inclusive.
It just shows that you should always get a few quotes.
I have had Dunlop tyres on several cars in the past. Never again, I think you can do much better with Michelin, Goodyear, Continental, Pirelli etc.
Wonder if anyone can help, we got hit by a large stone whilst driving in the GFs new Bravo. This cracked the windscreen. Phoned the insurance companies repairer, who ordered a new screen. 1 month later (dont ask!!) the windscreen turned up and was fitted today. On the way home the GF noticed windnoise from around the screen once up to motorway speeds (it was ok at lower speeds). She phoned the windscreen people who told her it may take time to settle in and to give it a week. Normally I wouldnt mind this but in 2 weeks were are travelling down to Italy in this car, so want it right. Does what they say sound plausible, has anyone else had this sort of thing happen? Thanks in advance. Read more
Get a hosepipe on it and see. You don't want to find out in a thunderstorm miles from home.
I've just bought an Alfa Romeo 156 on a x reg its a 2lite t spark Selespeed. Its done 76000 miles and I've been told its had cambelt changed 500 miles ago. I paid 1250 pounds for it,granted there's a couple of prangs on body work to be sorted and no tax but ive looked on ebay and trader etc and there going for 2000 plus?. I've also told there not the most reliable car around and that the Selespeed are known for breakdowns atc.can any one put my mind at ease and tell me what they think of these cars and gearboxes and any known probs etc etc, thanks ray

does anybody know the code for a standard renault radio? Read more
You should be able to get the code off a Renault dealer - they keep them on a database

I remember having similar symptoms on a CB650 I had in the 80s. Eventually traced it to a filthy dirty clagged up fuel filter in the tank.
