Hi all i have a bmw 330 ci with 10000mls on the clock it seems to develop a really annoying squeak at the back when the weather is hot-the more hot the day the worse the squeak! it seems to happen when the car is doing about 20mls per hour but not at faster speeds i had the car serviced at a main bmw dealer and they had the wheels off and they could not see a problem (so i take it its not the brakes)

Screwloose,

I'm going to see The Boss at Old Trafford on 28th May. Any Man U regulars or others with ideas on parking in the area? Gates open at 16.00 show starts 17.30 on a wednesday. Memory says there is an industrial estate near by. Happy to walk a couple of miles. Returning on M6 South. Thanks.

Can anyone HELP me, I have just bought a Saab Convertible 900SE 2.3 and it drives a dream, on the way home the petrol light came on showing I was low on fuel, as I only had about 4-5 miles to go before I was home that is what I did and was going to fill up the next day, in the meantime before stopping the car it started missing very slightly, I was home so I stopped the car, later went out to move it and it would not start giving the impression that it was out of fuel, when it did start I parked it up and saw that the ENGINE FAULT LIGHT was on, now I am thinking could I have brought up some muck and therefore the sensor is showing a fault as it is to much of a coincedence as what happened above.
The car is running fine but I have not driven it. What should I do? what could the problem be? and how do I get the light re-set?
Can anyone give me some valid advice.

Does a diesel engine run initially on a rich mixture at cold in the same way as a petrol one does? Read more

Pre 1990 diesels used a richened mixture to start but most modern ones use timing advance-some use an external control to advance but the external control is usually there to up-speed the idle-it was also used to up the idle speed when reverse was selected and was called the"driving school fix".Other pumps used the increase in fuel pressure when the engine started to restore the timing to normal. Most early car diesels required you to put the accelerator to the floor when cranking-now they tell you to keep your foot off.

First of all is it easy to run my 1.8 td mondeo on veggy oil/bio diesel and what type of mix. Also is it legal or do you have to pay duty on it, with the environmental issues and rise in price i thought it should be considered as an alternative. Read more

It would be better to send it to the starving people in Zimbabwe than burn it in your Mondeo.

Swap one of them for a previous-model Honda Civic - there's far more room in the back than you'd think for the length of the car. (The new Civic is inferior in this as in many other respects.)

Dear brethren, I have the option of buying a used honda accord cdti executive 2005 with 80000 mileage for 7000 pounds or volkswagen passat 1.9D 2005 with mileage of 24,000 for 8,500pounds. I think I should be able to afford either of them.
Ordinarily, the choice would have been the vw passat but with the well known fuel pump and engine problems of the passt and the fact that in the JD power of 2008; amongst the family cars, honda was 3rd while the passat came 16th because of poor reliability and poor interior quality and poor services from the dealers.
I am confused really. your advice is needed urgently before I lose the 2 of them from indecision. which one should I buy?

I wonder if anyone can provide some tips please. What would be the most efficient way of gaining HGV qualifications while meanwhile still working in another unrelated occupation? Any views of timescale / costs?
Thinking behind all this is that I, and many of my industry aquaintances have this rather odd seasonality to our businesses where we are astonishingly busy for chunks of the year and then equally quiet at other times. Seems that there is often a need for temporary HGV drivers which would suit us as "fill in" work. Any views, thoughts, positives or pitfalls appreciated.

i recently bought a renault clio 1.1 2001 Y plate recorded as a cat c insurance loss. damage is very minor cosmetic, so minor it passed an mot today unrepaired. it has two previous owners and shows 21000 on the clock. it came from the insurance company with no papers ie service history, logbook as i need a VIC inspection to get it back on the road. after doing an MOT history check on the VOSA website, i discovered one of the MOT's in 2004 recorded the mileage as 98,000 and the following year 19,000. im a bit thrown by this as the car looks and drives like its done 21000. it even still has the original michelins from 2001 all with decent tread, spare unused, hardly any wear and tear on interior. Could it just be a typing error? how can i find out more about the cars true mileage as im worried ive bought a clocked car!! please help!! Read more
