I want to fit replacement spark plugs for above
My problem is that I have been recommended 2 different part codes by vauxhall dealers, namely 9195109 0r 90509739.
My original part code 91149686 is apparently obsolete.
Can anyone advise which is correct, 9195109 or 905 09739.
Thanks

Hi is there anyone out there that can help? Have recently bought the above car it has 32000 genuine miles on the clock but seems very slugish at times and will not go above 4000 revs. I have had it into Citroen for a service they say there are no faults and think it needs a new turbo!!!
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED -

In my opinion only 32,000 miles in 12 years tells its own story. I'd be concentrating my efforts on the whole air intake and EGR system to make sure it's all clean and unrestricted. A big and very messy task, but you can bet your life it needs doing.

Wonder how good dentmaster really are ;-)
2006 25000 miles 1400 petrol. I am experiencing indescribable grinding noises when descending a long steep hill locally. No noises any when else. Remarkably this same noise appeared in my 2003 C3 which I traded in for this new model Anyone else out there experiencing similar. Suppliers unable to find anything wrong other than the need in the near future of front pads and discs. Questioning new discs were told these were heavily scored!!! I am a careful woman driver with IAM qualification and tyres are still the originals pointing to careful motoring and not heavy braking. Back brakes taken off and cleaned previously this proved not to be the cause.
ALSO engine stop light was coming on and fan would stick on. this was corrected after several attempts by supplier.
Moved over from Discussion to Tech, year and engine details added to subject line - funny we haven't asked for that before, might be an idea Read more

That's probably what's making the noise. I suspect the front discs have a lip on the outer edge, discs get warm with having to cope with long steep hill, they in turn expand with heat and the lip then rubs on the edge of the worn brake pads. I presume you incorperate some engine braking when descending this steep hill and not soley rely on the brakes alone?
Questioning new discs were told these were heavily scored!!!
Pads as are equally hard as the discs these days and pretty much all wear down at the same rate as each other. If the car lives outside, or is garaged straight after washing it, that can quicken the wear rate of discs as well (ie, corrosion).
Hello all
I need to fit front disks and pads, how easy is it? My Dad will help me who last fitted them to a Ford Cortina. i also need to fit some new rear flexible brake hoses, is this easy enough to be done or is it worth paying £100 for some one else to do it.
Any advice will be appreciated :D

I'm worried. You say:
"i also need to fit some new rear flexible brake hoses"
And then:
"the brake hoses are corroded"
Do you mean the flexible hoses, or the metal pipes?
Perhaps it may be a good idea to invest some of the potential money you save in a Haynes manual.
Hi
I will be purchasing the new shape Mazda 6 2.0 TS2 in a few months time, however I am having trouble deciding on whether to opt for the manual or the automatic version.
I live in London and only do 5000ish miles per year; however a lot of these miles generally involve stop/start traffic, and bumper to bumper crawls on the A406. When I am sitting in these traffic jams, I dream of how easy life would be in an automatic, and how much my left leg would thank me for one!
However the dilemma is this, I guess compared to most people my mileage is very low, and the Mazda 6 automatic seems to perform worse than the manual in almost every respect.
- The auto costs £1000 more from the get go.
- The MPG on the auto is about 4-5 mpg worse than the manual.
- The performance of the auto is worse than that of the manual.
- The auto will cost around £85 more per year for road tax.
However despite all of this I still dream about how nice it would be to have an auto when faced with London traffic.
So what do you guys think.....manual or auto?

Honda Jazz CVT recommended above. Nice car. CVT goes well and can be used as a 7 speed tiptronic. I think the rides too hard for long journeys, but for town could be very good.
Has anybody ever experience a heavy knocking which seems to come from either the clutch or gearbox. The knock sounds like a broken shaft with in the gearbox. Read more

Straight into the dealers; almost certainly for a new clutch and dual-mass flywheel under warranty.
I'm starting a new job soon and will be doing (~25K/year) in the commute to work covering mostly motorway miles... so I'm planning on buying a nice diesel saloon for comfort and economy...
The problem is I'm a bit undecided on what to go for. My wishlist of features are
1) as close to 60mpg on the motorway as possible
2) good noise insulation
3) an enjoyable/sporty(ish) drive
given that I have around 8k to spend here are a few options I've considered
- BMW 320d, ~65k miles, ~02 reg
I'm a bit concerned about reliability of these though, given that a lot of people have been having problems with the turbo on this model... the other concern is that I'll be putting a lot of mileage on a car that's got a fair few under its belt already
- Audi A4, ~60k miles, ~02 reg
same concerns with adding lots of miles, but also think they drive may not be as good as with the BMW?
- Saab 93, ~45k miles, ~54 reg
newer car, fewer miles, but faster depreciation and reliability problems? or were these only when the model was introduced? I like the look of the Saab but my biggest concern is with depreciation...
- VW Passat, ~40k miles, ~54 reg
fewer miles again, VAG reliability... I'm hoping it has a similar refinement (comfort & noise insulation) to the Audi but expecting it to have a less sporty drive, might even have some money left over from my 8k...
what would you go for? and why? Is there an alternative you'd recommend instead?

I have had a Passat 1.9 TDI 130 bhp for approx 2+ years ,done 40k miles, averages 60+ mpg on long journeys.
Problems this single breakdown 2 years back fluid leakage from clutch
Very satisfied...
Superb low speed torque and power,i have an Audi A6 , 3 litre TDI quattro with 230 bhp and the Passat in comparison to be honest in day to day use at low speeds, wouldnt say there is much of a difference in real world terms.
However if you do prefer the Passat the 130bhp is the one to go for as the 90 and 110 bhp ones are underpowered in relation to the size of the car.In addition there isnt a significant drop in mileage with the 130bhp one.
I need to change the car over the summer and a 2 litre automatic petrol Mondeo is in pole position.
How critical was the facelift in Sept 2003?
I know that these facelifts are often a chance to correct many early faults (rear suspension bushes?) but was this facelift of that type or just a bit more chrome and tart?
Any experiences before and after the facelift? Read more
My 2004 model year Mondeo (a Euro IV 2.0 TDCi Ghia) had the rusting rear doors and had bushes replaced (twice).
The rust would have been spotted on the (optional) annual bodywork inspection but being a lease car they refused to pay this to save a few pounds because most cars disposed of before 3 years... mine was on a 4 year lease. So beware ex lease cars.
Hi all,
After a new engine and goodness knows what else, my car now seems to be jumping a little intermittently when in gear and putting my foot down,.
Is this spark plugs? Everything else has been replaced (spent over £2k on repairs!) Read more
Multi-electrode ones used in other engines were retrospectively recommended for earlier models. Maybe that is why... the multi-electrode ones are GM90509739.
