Hi is there anyone out there that can help? Have recently bought the above car it has 32000 genuine miles on the clock but seems very slugish at times and will not go above 4000 revs. I have had it into Citroen for a service they say there are no faults and think it needs a new turbo!!!
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED -
{Just one - please stop SHOUTING!}

Dealers!! If it won't rev over 4K, then it does indeed have a fault. The fact that they are too thick to find it doesn't make it disappear!
Does the code 4HX appear in the VIN? If so; it will have a FAP system fitted.

i will rev to about 5000 revs if yr stood still n out of gear but that is it! Yes it does have 4HX in the vin

Main citroen c5 2.2 HDI 2002, won't go over 5000 rpm when its out of the gers, should it do that, or is there some problem?

What a bunch of wasters your dealer and their staff must be! If there isn't anything wrong with your car how can it need a new turbo? Is it still within any 3 year warranty?
|
NO not in warranty. they say there is a problem but dont know what it is as the comp does not tell them so think its the turbo that is failing

Another dealership that's lost their only diag tech and can't find another. Their remaining staff clearly have absolutely no innate reasoning ability and are nothing but bio-robots. "The computer, it says no...."
There's a phenomenol amount of live-data available from these ECUs that constantly displays almost every parameter of the system's functioning. To help even the brain-dead; on many sensors, it even shows the expected [target] value to compare against the actual reading.
Somewhere in there, a reading is not as expected. It could be an intake air-flow sensor, a restricted intake to the turbo, the turbo itself, or a restriction of the exhaust caused by a clogged FAP. [Particle filter.]
Anything that serious on the fuelling side should flag a fault-code - maybe we shouldn't assume that they do actually know how to access them.........
Take your car to a good diesel specialist. Hopefully, there you will find someone with a brain.

Thanks for the advise. it as just had a major service so surly they should of done the particle filter in the service?
will find a diesel specialist and let you know the out come.
Once again many thank

No; unless it was due at that mileage; servicing the FAP system with [re-con?] particulate filter, ECU adaption and tank of Eolys [anything up to £900] is a separate job.

wondering if you have the problem solved my C5 developed the same problem and is was toldby gararge needing new turbo they changed a pipe already (£300) butdid notfix problem
|
Before agreeing to a highly lucrative (for the garage) out of warranty new turbo fitted exhaust all the other possibilities (as advised by another poster). I would think it extremely unlikely that the turbo is causing this. More likely some much cheaper ancillary component, or blocked valve etc..

In my opinion only 32,000 miles in 12 years tells its own story. I'd be concentrating my efforts on the whole air intake and EGR system to make sure it's all clean and unrestricted. A big and very messy task, but you can bet your life it needs doing.
