Hi all,

GF's VTR has been drove along the side of a bollard at a low speed. Damage is door and back wing severely dented. Looks a big job and just wondered of possible costs to get repaired. She has a 300 excess and was wondering if getting it done privately would be cheaper as she will loose her 3yr no claims and hike in insurance premium. Sorry I haven't got any pics yet but can get some if that will help Basically it needs new passenger door and back panel under rear side window as it is dented upwards of the plastic side skirt (3 door) Read more

I recently just brought an 1995 Rover 416sli automatic , Honda engine from my understanding . Its got 59000 on the clock and was driving well and still does to some extent . Trouble is that oil has started leaking from the engine . I am scared as to what problem it can be because if its extensive I wont be able to afford to repair it . I was wondering if anyone could give me advice or a clue as to what it could be . I have only had the car for a number of weeks and rely heavily on it to take my children to school otherwise it would take me 1hr 30mins one way . The mechanic who sold me the car has checked everything and said all oil levels are to max and ok . The oil colour I saw is like a rusty red although this could suppose be the oil mixed with rust .......HELP

Obviously not read the small print on posting or Sex Pics sticky :-) Read more

Until someone's looked and established whether that is the case and which - or both pipes are leaking; then costing is pure guesswork. One used to be fairly reasonable; the other extortionate. [That was 5 years ago when Rover still existed.]

Whether it's still possible to source them at all is more of an issue. Uncommon Rover parts are drying up fast.

Hi

Citroen C5 03 reg 1.8 petrol 115k miles with full service history. Owned by me for about two months.

The engine has developed a quite loud tappety noise at the top. When I bought the car it was quite then after about a month it occurred once warm only but now it's there regardless of engine warmth.

I took it to a Citroen dealer and asked him (him being the service reception guy, not a technician) if they had hydraulic tappets and would this likely be the cause. He listened and replied that it probably is a loose spark plug as they have only once had this problem with this engine before and that was the cause.

I drove home and checked the spark plugs - all nice & tight. Any suggestions? It sounds like it's coming from under the rocker cover but it's certainly the top part of the engine.

I recorded the sound on my mobile and uploaded it for anyone who's interested - tinyurl.com/yu3n7j

Many thanks,

Dear all, can you help?

I am looking to change my faithful old PUG 406 1.8 to something a bit newer and a bit more up market. My requirements are as follows in no particular order
- Reliability, economical, reasonable maintainance cost, comfort/smooth ride, low to average mileage.

I do about 10k a year and have a bit of a short list for you to comment on

Volvo S60 D5, BMW 320D, SAAB 93 1.9(150), JAG X TYPE 2.0dse,

any comments would be very much appreciated.

The A4 and Passat are similar, and the petrol and diesel engines are mostly the same. You'll get a newer Passat for your money: an Octavia (again mostly the same engines) is almost as roomy as the Passat but built on the Golf platform, and you'll get a newer one still.

I bought a four year old LS400 with 27k on the clock. (95 model) for £20k, ran it for seven years up to 180k sold it for £1k in 2007. Only two expensive repairs, power steering pump leaking and a rear wheel bearing went. Great car replaced with LS430.

I want to terminate my HP agreement half way through the agreement which is my right as I have the paid the required amount. The contract states that as long as the vehicle is in REASONABLE condition then they will take the vehicle back nothing further to pay etc. They want to give the vehicle a full RAC inspection etc, the vehicle is a MG MGF and is 8 years old etc it a rusting subfarme and rusting pipe work. It does have a 11 month mot and a full service history and apart from the above is in (well i think reasonable condition)

Does anyone know where I stand ie if they say its not in reasonable condition because of the rust etc then what?? Any help would greatly appreciated Read more

for a slightly different suggestion i say get an old e34 bmw plenty of good ones around for 500-1k then save the rest of the cash for something else. fairly reliable, still good looking i think by todays standards and for what you want it for id say fairly ideal, get a touring if you need bit more room again. why tie up 4 grand in a car considering what you want it to do, when you could buy something like the e34 skip on depreciation and save the money?

In areas where the lower limit was needed but constantly ignored - hence the AA's
recomnedation that average speed cameras are better than humps.....

I'm no fan of cameras by any means, but it is striking (at least round these parts) the extent to which people now behave in roadworks, where previously if you were going at the speed limit you were in a distinct minority.

Hi hopefully someone can help me,

i drove my 1999 1.6 ford focus from north England down to south Wales, after a few days of not driving i drove to a local town 3miles away and my airbag, handbrake and tracking control lights came on while i was driving. i parked up while shopping got back in my car and when i turned the engine back on the lights were still on. the car still drives fine and everything seems fine, i'm concerned because i have to make the 300miles return trip next week.

any help would be very much appreciated.

thanks
