Just seen this one in Belle Vue auction for next week
MAZDA MX-5 2.0 ICON, 2 Doors, Roadster, Petrol, Manual Transmission, Registered 23-10-2007, only 700miles.

Pre-reg/demonstrator I'd guess, but it'll be a sound buy for someone. £12500ish????

As long as you didn't want the folding electric roof & it's premium price.

I feel i have particular interest in this story as this garage is just a few miles from where i live and i use it regularly...

My question is though what happens after the thieves have been stung? Could provoke violence towards garage staff members. Could seriously inflame the situation?

Thoughts?

I'd like to see where this sits in Criminal Law (S1 Criminal Damage Act 1971 where the phrases "lawful authority" and "reasonable excuse" are included. The words actually mean something.

Hi

I'm looking at changing cars and after people's opinions.

I've narrowed my choices down to either the Honda Prelude 2.0 (96-00 model) with the manual gearbox or the Toyota Celica GT (94-00 model, preferably not an import).

Has anybody had any experience good or bad that they could share?

Thanks, Chris. Read more

Glad to be of help, make sure you test both; I?m sure once you've had the 2.2VTi over 5,200rpm when Vtec kicks in it should be an easy choice!

For your 3k you should be able to get a very decent VTi. Personally I'd have no concerns about going for a slightly higher mileage 2.2 to stay in budget, as these engines are good for 200,000+ miles if well maintained.

Obviously a full service history and all old MOT's is vital as they do hide thier mileage well. Only slight weakness I?m aware of is the 5th gear synchromesh can go if the car has been abused, so make sure the box feels right when testing.

One other thing, watch out for is Japanese import 2.2 non Vtecs being sold as Vtecs. The lack of Vtec on the engine and 4 as opposed to 5 stud wheels will give the game away!

I have purchased BRAND NEW Lucas XUD 101 pump for berlingo/partner for £30

My 306 1.9D XUD has the same XUD 101 pump BUT this new one has 4 wires connector where the old one has 1.

Is there any way I can make it work on my 306? (I like a challenge btw).

Thanks

Only a wild guess, but could the one fitted to the turbo'd cars be capable of sensing the boost pressure and adjusting the fuel accordingly? Would seem pretty pointless to turbo a car and not increase the fuel.

Hello, Help please

Just recently bought the car and whilst its still under dealer warranty would like advice on a noise I can best describe as a heavy dud dud dud. This only occurs when first starting the car from cold and when taking up the drive i.e. letting out the clutch which is why I did not notice it during the test drive.

Yes I know I should have been the one who started it from cold but I 've already beat myself up over that.

There's no noise when gently blipping the throttle after it starts: its only when try to get the car moving and only initially.

Any suggestions welcome I'd rather go back to the dealer with some idea - pretty sure he'll try a fob off.

many thanks

I have had increased consumption problem with my Laguna II, 2002, 1.8 16V that turned out to be a problem with Manifold Pressure sensor and Lambda probe. I bought the parts thru a dealer and have them installed in the garage. After replacement no improvements. The mechanic suggested that the Manifold sensor is not the proper one for my model. The package of the spare part had a label in which Laguna 1.9dci is written, along with some Nissan 1.2 and 1.4 engines. The dealer is convincing me that the same pressure sensor is for 1.8 gasoline engine, and the reason why this model is not on the label is because the manufacturer didn't have enough space to put all models on it. Is he right, i.e. same pressure sensor goes on dci model and 1.8 which means the problem is somewhere else or he is just a funny man? btw, the diagnostics showed problem with pressure sensor and lambda probe. What else could be the problem? Please help....!!!

Huh? This was a genuine Renault part from a Renault dealer?
btw the diagnostics showed problem with pressure sensor and lambda probe.

Err; no they didn't. That just doesn't happen. There may have been a code definition that mentioned an error state in those CIRCUITS; but codes are never parts replacement instructions.

Many things can affect the operation of a sensor and flag a code - it doesn't follow that the sensor itself is faulty. Diagnostics is a difficult business.

The ABS/ASC Warning lights appeared on the dash and when I pulled over and stopped, the ASC unit was running all the time even with the keys removed from the ignition. The only way to stop the unit running was to unplug it, removing fuses did not work. I wonder if anyone else has had similar problems or some idea of what may cause this ?

Please read the small print, nice to have year and engine in subject line and NO NEED TO SHOUT........PU! Read more

Seems this is now more likely to be the ABS Control Unit

Hiya, friend has the above C Max and car wouldn't start. She suspected flat battery so tried jump starting it off other car but smoke appeared so she stopped and called AA.

AA realised that she had connected jump leads up the wrong way round and a fuse had blown.

He got car started OK but suggested it goes straight to a garage to make sure nothing has been damaged due to connecting the leads up incorrectly.

Car is at her indie she uses but can't look at it until Monday.

What sort of damage, if any, will have been done?

Personally if everything is working okay then I wouldn't worry about it. There is very little that the garage can check with regards to it being attempted to jump start it the wrong way round. An unneccessary expense in my opinion.
