I do remember reading a while back a few end users of the 1.4TDi were getting around 100bhp from a custom remap of this unit.
Does anyone know how to reprogramme the fob for a Mazda2?
I have a 2004 TS2 and the remote only works when it feels like it. I bought a second unit and have been looking for instructions on how to reprogramme them but can't find the info anywhere.
Thanks.

the remote only works when it feels like it.
That suggests it's an intermittant fault with the fob. A dry joint in the electronics somewhere?
'A 31-year-old man is in hospital after he was struck by a car on the M61 motorway in Bolton.
The man was seen walking in the fast lane of the southbound carriageway, between the Bolton West Services and Horwich junction.
He was struck by a car as he tried to dodge the traffic, Greater Manchester Police said.
He suffered a fracture to his left leg, and was taken to a hospital where he is "stable".
The driver of the car was treated for shock..'
Not the first time we've read about the antics of pedestrians on our M-ways but when did we ever read about a successful prosecution based on them putting drivers lives at risk ?
A driver going about his lawful business is now trying to come to terms with an event we all dread- being involved in an accident. Read more
I'd vote for that sir hiss. Frankly, the level of care shown by pedestrians when using our roads, streets and highways is , in my opinion , at an all time low.
As for walking in the fast lane of an M-Way, the person involved should be charged with attempted manslaughter as they are showing scant regard to the lives of drivers using a certain type of road from which pedestrians are banned.
Job change means I have got to hand back my current Mondeo 2.2TDCi and order a new company car. I love the shape of the new Mondeo and believe that it is the only workhorse for mega mileage. Time will not allow me to wait for the new 2.2TDCi, so will have to order a new 2.0, has anyone got comparative experience and I am going to find the new car gutless? Not worried about burning tyres at junctions, but more interested in whether it will pull as well up steep hills and blast past slow moving LGVs as my current one does. Read more
I think you might find the 2.2 is out in March although only in Titanium X spec
All tyres are approaching the legal limit.
Its currently fitted with Firestone Firehawks 195/60/15 H
These are great in the dry but pretty awful for grip in the wet.
Can you recommend tyres which are good allround.
Many thanks.

Some of the online tyre people E.G. Black Circles or MYTYRES etc. give quite useful "character references" for the products they sell. Have a Google.
Long story shot - I was hit by a third party pulling out into the main road and my 2002 reg mondeo suffered damage to the passenger side but still drivable, i have had a telephone call from his insurers accepting liability (but nothing in writing)
His insurers arranged to have a Ford dealership collect the car to arrange repairs.
Since it has been collected I have been in contact with my insurers saying it would be better if my insurers had arranged the repairs (at their approved but non-ford repairers)
Since it has been collected people i have spoken to have suggested (much to my shock)that it might be written off!! The damage appeared to be to the passenger door, wing and bumper - all of which i assume would need to be replaced.
after speaking to the garage they say they are due to estimate onthe works at the beginning of this week coming. My question is if they decide that the costs of repairs result in the car being written off am I legally entitled to collect the car from the garage to take it elsewhere for repair assessment without effecting my claim?
I'm worried that I may have played into the hands of 'the enemy' by allowing them to take the car away
(I have been searching the forums - is it to late to involve someone like helphire or europaconsultants - his insurers have already provided me a hire car)

anyway my Passat was a May 2000 Sport 1.8T (may 2000) and the accident was in (I think) late November 2002.
Had the clutch replaced on my recently bought 1995 xantia estate. Clutch juddered badly and upon re examination it was discovered that the flywheel had some minute cracks and high spots.Bought a new(secondhand ) one from a breakers delivered to garage and apparantly wrong size(twice).Garage had old flywheel skimmed to get it off the ramp and picked up last saturday and all seemed fine ,a slight judder but you couldn't really complain about it .Today the bighting point gradually dropped to the floor and now the clutch is not disengaging properly at all.Any advice please Read more
Unbelievably on the journey to the garage tonight to drop the car off the clutch started working 100%.On setting off I had to start it in reverse to select it.Advice please.
I have noticed from looking at various tyre sidewall markings (yes I know i need to get out more) that the ply construction on many of the budget brands consists usually of just steel and polyester. Virtually all of the premium brands however contain an extra nylon ply. On enquiring about this, a tyre fitter friend of mine told me that this nylon ply acts like a cap, that shrinks over the other belts as the tyre warms up. This is supposed to help prevent tread delamination at high speed. There is no legal requirement for manufacturers to fit this nylon ply.
My question to the BR is, in the "real world" of every day motoring does this really matter, or are an unsuspecting public being sold tyres that are missing a key safety feature? Read more
Skim read all the article, but 1 interesting point is that it recommends budget tyres for people on low budgets (a point I dont disagree with) rather than 2nd hand tyres.
Does that mean when purchasing a 2nd hand car (as per the example they highlighted) it would be recommended to put new budget tyres on (if better brands cant be afforded?) rather than run on the unknown tyres? So. if so, it could be an example of throwing away good (tread wise) named tyres and replacing with lesser brand names?
If the report is taken at its facevlaue (with all its comments) then that can be logically concluded! Not correct imo though!
Tyres are so emotive they do bring out some deep entrenched views dont they!
This applies to a new Land Rover Defender 110 I'm waiting for, but I guess the same would apply to virtually any new car.
When I placed the order, it was suggested by the dealer I might like to wait a bit and have a 'new' new registration of 1st March. As it was by no means clear then when the vehicle might really arrive I saw it it my interest to push for sooner, rather than later.
At the moment, we are looking at an earliest deliverable date of 25th February. Much to my surprise the dealer now thinks this good, and not to wait a few days for 1st March and a number with an 8 in it. I guess sales targets are the dealers issue as the extra 1 week tax would be covered by them at no cost to me (I have this in writing).
Pro's of this, the above, and the fact I don't have to renew the tax on the trade in. Dealer does not seem willing to let me walk off with the tax disc which although I'd only drive the old car a dozen miles on the 1st, the act of signing the V5c, the no tax and or SORN would probably make me an easy nick for Swansea. So all in all it is cheaper.
Con's, well I'd never played the 'new' new registration game, and truthfully, not really my style. But less than a week? Given the date of build won't change, the date of first registration does come into play. Trade in wise, a dealer would pay you less, but the forecourt price would not change that much.
In all this, I tend to keep cars a long time. The existing one will be nearly 8 years old, and I think it very likely I'll keep this one even longer. I'm aware I get stung on VED, but I'm hoping it's not priced off the road. Purchase of another 8 years down the line though is probably going to be only for the very rich. So trade in is probably not that big an argument.
So, what do the readers think? Dealer has been told that I'm not deciding now as it's to soon (car not built yet etc), but obviously I will have to be ready to give an answer.

Quite true, you can have 12 months 1 week tax on a new car. And the dealer has said they'll fund the extra week. But with a March registration, the registration number would have an 8 in it, hence my question.
Useful to see a variety of opinions. I don't post that much but read a fair amount.
