First Diesel Engine to Meet Euro 4 Emission Regs 17 Dec 2002 (News)
This is a Vauxhall press release, as it came (the car in the photo is the 2004 Astra):- The new Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTi, the first diesel model to meet the stringent Euro 4 emission standard, brings with it better performance, greater running smoothness and greatly reduced exhaust gas pollutants. The 1686cc 16v 80PS four-cylinder ECOTEC turbo diesel, with two overhead camshafts and common rail direct fuel injection, produces a maximum torque of 170 Nm and a top speed of 108mph in saloon and hatchback models. -
Diesel Price Premium Falling at Auction 26 Mar 2009 (News)
With many volume fleets continuing to specify diesels in preference to petrol cars, data from BCA shows that the price premium fleet & lease diesel cars achieve over comparable petrol models is beginning to narrow. Diesel enjoyed a substantial price premium over petrol throughout 2008, despite the differential in fuel costs and that the diesel cars were sold at a higher average mileage. -
Volvo Bi-Fuels and Diesels Arrive 15 Nov 2001 (News)
The S60, S70 and S80 LPG automatics qualify for a 75% Powershift Grant, worth over £1,400. Grant figures for other models are expected in early 2002. A fuel switch-over recall problem was confined to 200 S80 CNG models in Germany and none are believed to have reached the UK. Volvo's new lightweight D5 common rail diesel replaces the old Audi unit in V70s and S80s and is the first diesel engine available in the S60. -
Fuel costs 'should be kept constant' 27 Jul 2009 (News)
Motorists who are considering buying a car - but are worried about whether they will be able to afford the running costs - may agree something should be done to stabilise the price of petrol and diesel. The Association of British Drivers has suggested the government should adopt a flexible approach to fuel duty. It explained that when the price of oil is high, the country's leaders could keep the cost of petrol and diesel relatively constant by reducing its statutory charges. -
Jaguar announces XF Sportbrake pricing 29 Jun 2012 (News)
Emissions are as low as 135g/km, which equates to 55.4mpg on the combined cycle. The 2.2-litre diesel is complimented by a 3.0 V6 diesel with either 240PS or 275PS. Regardless of power output, emissions are the same at 163g/km, with fuel economy of 46mpg. Finally, a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine will be offered in place of the old V8. -

Sainsbury’s cuts fuel prices to under £1 per litre 25 Feb 2015 (News)
Fuel prices are already at a five year low, saving motorists an average of £200 a year, with the average price of unleaded falling from 130 pence-per-litre to 109 pence-per-litre. The cost of diesel has also fallen from 138 pence-per-litre to 116 pence-per-litre, thanks to the global collapse in the price of oil. -
Supermarket diesel prices drop again 27 Jul 2015 (News)
The cost of diesel in June 2014 was, on average, 136.1 pence-per-litre. The latest fuel price reductions mean the cost of filling a 40-litre diesel tank is around £9 lower today than it was in June 2014. Additionally diesel is currently cheaper than petrol at most supermarkets for the first time in several years. -

The 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre HDi diesel engines are characterised by their low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions of 20% compared to a diesel engine with a conventional injection system. 1.4 litre HDi in the 206 emits only 116 g/km, a reduction of 44 grams of CO2 compared to the previous 1.9 litre diesel engine. -
ASDA and Tesco provide some Christmas cheer with cut in fuel prices 17 Dec 2013 (News)
Motorists visiting ASDA and Tesco this Christmas will get some extra seasonal cheer after both supermarkets announced a drop in fuel prices. The changes come into effect on 17 December and will see motorists pay no more than 126.7p per litre for unleaded and 134.7p per litre for diesel. Both retailers said they would aim to keep the prices low to reflect the fall in cost of wholesale fuel. -

Alternative fuel systems revealed at Detroit show 14 Jan 2008 (News)
Three new concepts from Chrysler have been unveiled by the automobile manufacturer at the Detroit Auto Show. Among them is the Bluetec diesel engine, found in the Jeep Renegade concept, which provides fuel economy almost five times as large of a petrol-only model. Similarly, the ecoVoyager saves energy through a technique called regenerative braking, which allows for it to transfer energy to the engine when the vehicle slows down. -

RAC calls on fuel sellers to lower prices 13 Jul 2016 (News)
The RAC has called on fuel sellers to pass savings on to customers, following a drop in the wholesale cost of fuel. Since June 24 the wholesale price of unleaded has fallen by 2.84 pence-per-litre (ppl) to 104.65ppl including VAT, while the cost at the pumps has risen to an average of 112.29ppl. -

New 307 Beats Golf on Emissions 23 Oct 2001 (News)
Peugeot's new 307 2.0 HDI 110bhp diesel models with FAP particulate filters use even less fuel and emit less CO2 than the excellent new VW Golf GT TDI 130. Figures for the Peugeot are 54.3mpg in the combined cycle and 138g/km CO2 compared to the VW's 52.3mpg and 148g/km CO2.
