Will driving with the handbrake accidentally on cause damage?
While I was driving the red brake system warning light came on so I turned round and headed for home. When I got home I discovered I'd been driving with the hand brake on for four miles. When I let the handbrake off the warning light disappeared. Is it okay to drive now?

Driving with the handbrake on may cause the rear brake discs or drums to overheat and become glazed, or worse still permanently damaged to the point where they require replacement. To be completely sure, we would suggest having the rear discs or drums inspected by a trusted garage to determine if they require replacement.
