Carry a copy of your insurance cert with you for a week or two.

The police won't believe a printed out certificate insurance certificate anymore these days. It's too easy for someone to produce a false one....

The only reason I've held onto my latest car is the extortionate price of all new cars now - the level of huge car price inflation over recent years has been ridiculous!

Anyone for a new basic-trim Peugeot 208 supermini with a weedy 75PS for £16,250? No thanks!

If there are 35million cars and trucks in UK and they produce less
polution than one container ship burning some sort of black mess.If we
get rid of half a dozen of these we can offset the rest of the cars in the
world, when is it going to happen, they could put some computer
controlled sails on these ships. As for Cows producing methane,in
the 1860's there were millions of Buffaloes in America, were they all
fitted with corks before they were shot and piled up in to mountains
of death to stop the Red Indians eating them all.

The Evoque cabrio did for SUV chop-tops what VW did for diesels. This is a niche that doesn't need exploring. Read more

The MX5 is one of the few cars this elderly and infirm person can get in and out of. I almost bought one last year until I tested an E300 Cabriolet which is easier to get into. I cannot get into most SUVs because they have small doors. 2 doors are always easier.

I test drove an Evoque Convertible. Easy to get into but you couldn't drive with the roof down due to tyre noise. The steering by negotiation and lack of suspension were other factors. The number one, however, was the skip and tarpaulin looks....

My car was bought new in September 2017. Like some other owners, I noticed that both rear tyres were significantly worn on the outer edge. Following the car's recent 18,000-mile service my dealer obtained sanction from Suzuki to replace the rear axle beam and fit two new tyres - all covered by warranty and at no cost to myself. Full marks to Suzuki and to Grenson Motors in Crewe for excellent customer service. Read more

Hi All,

I've just bought an aluminium roof basket. It came with brackets to attach to roof rack, but they're not wide enough for my thule aerowing bars. It also came with it's own roof rack bars, but the brackets to attach them are no good for my roof rails.... Read more

Maybe return the item, get a refund, and buy a carrier that does fit properly and safely?

Hi All,

I've acquired a cheap 54 plate arosa with the 1.0 AUC. It came to me with a misfire on cylinder 3 and vcds showed codes 16684 & 16687 which are random/multiple cylinder misfire and cylinder 3 misfire detected. I followed the code scan with a compression test, with the engine stone cold and the throttle wide open the following results were obtained,... Read more

I like to see the life of an old car being extended. It’s hard to justify the effort and cost however when £500-£600 is enough to buy a good low mileage example in good working order. Keep up the effort though, these were good little cars, it’s well worth preserving.

I'm considering changing my car for either a Nissan Qashqai or Hyundai Tucson.

I had A Tucson a few years ago, 54 plate and loved it, except for the running costs, petrol /Road tax.... Read more

I'm looking at second hand cars in the price range of £1000-2000 and it looks like I will have to choose to either have a high mileage or older car. Most of the cars I'm looking at are toyota aygo, citroen c1 or peugeot 107's (UK). What would be best between:

- 2009 car 95,000 mileage £1250 (private)
- 2006 car 61,000 mileage £1700 (franchise)
- 2010 car <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->77053 mileage £2000 (franchise) dg10mme

C1 etc. are chain, not belt. Loved our C1. Very simple design and easy to DIY service if that floats your boat.

If the repair was recent the damage may have been trivial, but more expensive to repair professionally than the street value of the car - such as a mild front-end damaging lamps and bumper but nothing structural.

Sorry, but CAT S is structural damage.

Cat N is uneconomic to repair....

I complained to Luton a while ago about their rip off charges, and the fact that the drop off area is now even further away from the terminal building; they wrote back & said the charges were the same as Stansted. They failed to mention that both airports are run by the same company - so of course the rip-off charges apply at both airports. The best advice for Luton is to drop people off & collect them at the nearby Holiday Inn Express. It's a 5 minute walk to the terminal, and if it's raining you only get marginally wetter than any of the other options. Hateful airport

At Stansted Airport you can park in mid stay car park free for one hour or £2 for two hours then get the free bus to airport it runs every 15 minutes and takes about 10 minutes
