My Caravelle 2004 1.9TDI, there is 3/4 of fuel in the tank but the gauge needle reading on low below the red line and jerk everywhere when I over the bumps plus the low fuel warning light is stay on all the time. I took out the sender unit, the reading of Ohms when the level is on full is 50.3 half is 199.1 but the low level on the floor is reading nothing like -1 . on multimeter. Is this tell me the sender are fault?

Do these EcoDrive plug in modules work? They are supposed to work any car whether it’s diesel or petrol. The blurb says: EcoDrive is a "plug and drive" device that plugs directly into your OBD2 connector. Any car built after 1996 has an OBD2 connector built into the dashboard, and it's very easy to access.

Has anyone bought one of these please?

Just found this so, maybe it’s the answer to my question, however, other people’s direct experience will be helpful: mwww.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=3&ved=2ahUKE...0 Read more

If your car has an MPG display, just set it to show that. You soon see that you get better MPG by not flooring the accelerator.

Agreed, it is amazing how much fuel is being used under power, especially in the lower gears....

Hello,

When I change the oil and the oil filter on my scenic I have always a lot of troubles to "extract" the oil filter, because from the bottom there is no space and from the top there are a lot of tubes.... Read more

I have a similar trouble getting to grips with a spin on oil filter on a motorcycle, very hard to get a to due to the position of the mainstaand. The method I use is a length of old fashioned flat packing tape ( 12/15 inches) enough to hook over the base of the filter, squeeze together the ends and apply turning force to.. Cut down an old cycle inner tube or rubber glove so its about 3 to 4 inches long x an inch wide, this gives the packing case tape grip. Clean and dry the surface of the filter then using the tape with the rubber beneath it twist off the filter.

I can't do links but it seems JLR are in trouble....recalling 40 thousand odd cars due to emission issues, investors are pursuing them for damages. Read more

Another shambles by a manufacturer. It would be nice(honest even) if the JLR PR dept stated exactly what is wrong with their engines. Software ECU programme? PETROL? or mechanical DIESEL EGRs DPFs or what. They say the recall is voluntary but is this on their behalf or do the owners risk having their cars reprogrammed like VW.

Remember MAGIC JOHN's recall with BMW a few weeks ago, I wonder if he has got his car back yet. Anyone buying a JLR vehicle could be heading for trouble!

Not because of Brexit? Nope - incompetence, IMHO. Read more

Every vehicle that uses more fuel than it's official figure will automatically emit more CO2. That means more than 95% of cars should be recalled. The differential between actual and typical economy and CO2 figures are most severe with plug-in hybrids because of the way they are tested.

The cynic in me says the USA would have grounded these jets immediately upon the second similar crash if they had been made by Airbus and not Boeing, am I being anti USA?

I travel by air more often than a normal lay person (maybe 20 to 30 flights PA), and I honestly would not have boarded a 737 MAX 8 after the Ethiopian disaster at the weekend, there were just too many similarities which were obvious just a few hours after the terrible event.... Read more

Trump has said :

"Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!"... Read more
