We had to take our grand scenic (1.5dci - 06 reg) back to Mr. Clutch to have new clutch/cylinders/flywheel replaced under warranty (again!) but now we have no parking brake at all.... Read more
Hey Everyone.
Shortly before Christmas some kind soul decided whilst I was at work to key the entire length of my car (I was parked legally on a public road, not blocking any drives etc) - I assume it was a disgruntled neighbour.... Read more
And then there are people who spend a fortune having their cars 'detailed' which to my way of thinking is throwing money away. Then again, my car doesn't have big wheels with low profile tyres, or a big exhaust or spoilers. Neither do I spend Sundays cleaning my car.
Car makes a groaning sound when I turn the steering wheel. Any ideas? Read more
I don't know how similar c70 is to mk4 mondeo (Volvo under Ford ownership at the time of sale), however mondeo do this groaning sounds occasionally. I sorted mine by draining the power steering fluid. Check what color it is. If it's dirty black colour a change may help a lot. if b there is a filter check that too. Hydraulic fluid starvation could cause this issue.
Received a £100 parking charge via UKCPS for allegedly parking in a disabled bay without a valid badge displayed.
The letter included a photo of my number plate but not of where I was supposedly parked.... Read more
Quite right RichardW. An official camera for law enforcement is useless unless it displays the location, time and date and any other relevant information, if not it cannot be admitted in evidence. There is so much wrong with this case. No proper location shown, no such address in the vicinity, no disabled bay in a taxi rank. The whole thing is huge try on!

Possibly the key is faulty or it needs re synchronising. Plenty of videos on youtube on how to do it.

In the late 90's I had a Rover Metro 1.4 CVT - it was certainly quicker then the performance figures Rover quoted & could indeed upset people in warm hatches of the lights.
The CVT box wasn't reliable, the one I had could only manage 12k miles between gearbox rebuilds - after the 2nd gearbox rebuild under warranty I got rid of the car....

I would check the operation of the rubber paddle switch on the tailgate.
When I ride my folding bicycle to the local shops or to the local rail station to get to work in London - we have bicycle mass = 12 kg plus my mass = 73kg giving a total of 85kg but when I use my ICE hatchback it is approx car mass = 1160kg plus my mass = 73 kg giving a total of 1233 kg. Surely the bicycle is the green way to travel?
As has been fully revealed, the electric car is NOT a zero emission means of transport. In reality, the 'well to wheel' carbon footrpint of the electric car is still around 60% of the typical ICE equivalent - because in UK, Germany and many other EU countries a large amount of fossil fuel is burnt to generate the electricity. So unless you charge your EV in France or Sweden - or pay out £8000 for a full 4KW SOLAR PANEL ARRAY on your rooftop you are not really saving the planet.... Read more
Spot on NARU - one tonne per seat is about the same as the hatchback payload to vehicle mass ratio....
No you miss my point. You started off by assuming there was some sort of link between mass and carbon footprint. I pointed out that it is not that simple!

Hi all - before xmas we bought our daughter a used corsa as her first car, we were pressured into buying a warranty, I normally never touch them and wish I hadnt
However the car now needs a thermostat housing - Ive had an estimate of 120 to supply & fit which seems fine. The warranty company asked for the cause of the failure - I realise if I mention age or wear + tear this will be excluded. Any idea of what I can claim as the cause of failure which is credible but at same time cant be excluded by the crooks at the warranty company. I know we shouldnt have taken this warranty out and should have just self-warrantied !!! ... Read more

Something coming to the end of it's life would never come under a warranty - no 'crooks' involved.
Can’t really see any connection between the clutch job and the epb abs systems. However, clutch replacement on these needs the battery and frame to be removed. May be an idea to check the battery junction box attached to the positive terminal . There are lots of wires and a few block fuses. One of these may be blown/ broken. If the system is not working, there must be some kind of fault logged in and and/or epb systems. Good diagnostic will be needed. Not sure what the pipe is for . Possibly gearbox breather?
