Lifted the extract below direct from the website of a major UK based franchised dealer which has multiple dealerships across a range of German marques. It's disappointing that, after all that we've been told about the advantages and risks of owning modern diesels in recent times, there's no reference to the effect of driving styles and the associated problem of particulate filters. ... There has been a number of house break-ins around here (Sutton Coldfield) of late. The offenders break in, usually through a back door, find the car keys and take a car. It seems that SUV’s or newish German saloons are targeted.
Both of our neighbours have been victims in the last few weeks. One neighbour lost his Ford Ranger, but it was found (it was fitted with a tracker). The other neighbour woke at 5am this morning to find someone trying to open his back door with a screwdriver. The neighbour gave chase and after a brief altercation the thief sadly got away.
I’m not sure any of our three cars are at risk (Yaris, Logan, MX5) or attractive to thieves but nevertheless I have pondering the purchase of a steering wheel lock. Being a poor vicar on a posh road has its advantages, as most other houses have posher and more expensive cars, usually more than one!
But it’s still quite scary. Maybe car theft from homes are an easy target? What’s it like in other parts of the country, or further afield? Read more
In my part of SW Leicestershire, there has been a spate of car thefts, attempted thefts or break-ins to vehicles.
A number of cases have been on roads where the street lights are turned off at midnight (surprise, surprise), however in one case, in broad daylight, entry was made to an unoccupied house, two sets of keys located, one to move a car blocking a BMW which was then stolen - and abandoned 5 miles away. ...
As the title says really, with all the emissions charges coming in, is it worth buying a euro 5 diesel car?
They still seem to be holding their value well...? Read more
Depends whether you need to go into city centres, and how often - we go into Birmingham every couple of months, but to a hospital just outside the Middle Ring Road which will be the boundary of their charging zone - on the rare occasion we go into the city centre, we use train or bus.
So there's no single answer to your question

My wife has been caught speeding 58 in a 40 zone by camera! The Notice of intention to prosecute was sent to her company with a request for driver information.
She shown it her friend at a law firm who said the notice was over 14 days and therefore it may mean there's a chance it could be voided so the law firm on her behalf sent a letter to the Central Ticket Office manager explaining this as per standard template letter asking for the matter to be dropped.... She won't be able to do a Speed Awareness Course for 58 in a 40 limit. 53 would be the maximum for a course.

That's what people do, Heidfirst - but it isn't necessary. A lot of spammers can be detected automatically and their posts deleted; some (probably about 10%) get through and I delete them.
This takes very little time. It takes longer when someone comments on a spammer and - worse - quotes the spam so that I have to edit that too....

Hi there new to the forum but been following for a while.
I just bought a 2005 Focus 1.6 with the ti duratec engine 115 HP. I suspect the thermostat needs changing but the thermostat currently on there has three ports but only the two left ports have any hoses connected to them, from what I've been able to find out the far right port is capped off internally?
My main question is can I fit the later thermostat which I think was fitted Jan 2006 onwards that only has two ports, the connection to the engine seems to have holes in the same locations and seems to have same shape housing to the engine too.
Main reason I want to fit this two port thermostat is because it's cheaper.
Thanks for any help.

Just fit the thermostat that is the correct part for your car - it's simple really!
