Nice to see Toyota and Suzuki doing this, but to remind Mr Fuller, they will produce the Vast amount of Cars in Poland, Maybe the ones produced here are to get round future import duties? And this has been all over the News just not as prominent as "BREXIT"!
Also one last bit, we have large stocks of Lithium for the Batteries.

Looking for some advise, my car recently stopped working, i woulld put it in gear but when getting up to speed it would make this awedul grinding noise and not go forward. Hyundai took it in to its neares dealer and we had to suthorise 1 hours inspection of £114.50 (payable if it wasnt under warranty) they then called back and advised it was a gearbox issue they would need me to authorise a further 3 hours at £114.50p/h they had told hyundai it needed a replacement gearbox and hyundai had asvised them to strip the gearbox and find out what was wrong. they then advised it was a broken clutch plate which was not covered by warranty as the car was 7 months over 2 years old and clutches are only under warranty for 2years/60000 miles. i paid the £1194 to get it fixed but asked to keep the broken parts. i took the broken parts to two seperate garages who both say that there must have been a defect as there was no wear shown on the clutch at all. I got in contact with Hyundai and they have told me that its only under warranty but due to my dissatisfaction they would give me £200 goodwill gesture.

Is there anything else i can do are they totally in there right not to pay me as it was not under warranty even though there was no wear on the item. I still have the parts and pictures... Read more

Not many manufacturers guarantee clutches for 2 years / 60,000 miles. I can't imagine you'd even have got the £220 goodwill from VAG / Ford /PSA.

I am considering buying a new car and am tempted by the discounts being offered by companies who put customers in touch with dealers offering the best deals. It is likely in this situation that the supplying dealer will not be local to the purchaser.

I am obviously aware that warranty work can be undertaken by any authorised dealer but would like to know how well this works in practice. Has anybody who has bought a car by this process experienced less favourable treatment because they had purchased the car elsewhere? Read more

From the majority of accounts on this forum, the vast majority of brokers seem fine and above board, though, like all businesses, some won't be - I do remember one or two (the names escape name) pushing people onto dealers a long way away, and one broker who was actually selling cars that were not new ones, pretending they were and which sometimes had significant amounts of finance to pay from the previous owner - the clue was that they refused to issue the spare keys and the V5/logbook for several months, which meant that the 'new owner' wasn't actually until the original debt was paid off.

I am looking to replace my current car and hope to receive some ideas and inspiration form the knowledgeable collective.

I have first hand experience with the IS250C. It is a well-built car and a used example with full main dealer history is a very safe bet. Loaded with all the kit you need without the things you don’t, so it has cruise, sat nav, reversing cam, but no start stop! The 2.5 v6 is whisper quiet, in fact it’s so quiet i have pressed the engine on/off button and inadvertently turned the engine off as i didn’t realise it was running! More used to it now. It’s not really a drivers car despite being rear wheel drive, and the ride is a tad jiggly round town but it settles down very well on the motorway. On long trips expect 30mpg. The v6 has absolutely no low down torque and it’s a heavy car so it does get worked but it’s always pleasant in doing so. It’s a high spec toyota with toyotas reliability, although sadly it is a tad frumpy to look at when the roof is up. When it’s down it looks very sleek. It’s the safest bet for a reliable 2nd hand convertible 4 seater.

As a result of not having a car I have had to rent a car from Sixt which at the time of the collecting the car I was not told about the toll charges which would have to be paid by the renter.
ibb.co/sKMP0gt
As seen on the link to the actual toll charge is £ 2.5 but they have added an admin charge of £36 on each occasion so this brings it up to £38.5 . If you multiply that by six crossings it adds up to a significant amount.
What would the forum think on contesting this on two counts?
1)That I was not informed clearly about this
2)That the “admin” charges are excessive and punitive.

Happy Blue!

To be fair though, if someone is not from teh London area they might not know about the toll.

I used the Dartford Crossing about two years ago and it was only because someone said in passing at my last appointment before heading North that if I was using the Crossing I needed to log on as soon as I got home to pay the toll. Had they not said that I would have been none the wiser....

So more problems!

Private seller blatantly lied to me about problens with a car I've bought. I really thought he was a nice young man and we had a lovely conversation about how all races and religions must stand together for peace etc. but it seems have been duped in my naivety. Here's me thinking it's against the law to misrepresent something even privately. Car broke down almost straight away after purchase and smoke bellowing out of it.... Read more
