£150k? That would be an Aston Martin DB11 surely. You'll always know that you're in something very special, even whilst trundling round town. Read more

Reading another thread made me think of this.

There has been a serious amount of salt put down on the roads this winter, the south probably as bad as north of the border, and our cars are all going to suffer from it.... Read more

Oh of course, it says it on the map therefore it must be true. Councils never lie, or send out empty gritters for show do they.

You don't live here, I do, and I drive on roads that have not been gritted....

Didn't the same names debate this to the n'th degree a while ago? ... and didn't it finish up with ill feeling all round?

Didn't someone have some old two seater of some description and only change the oil at every change of Pope?...

Well its sorted, Fabia 1.0 TSi 110 PS SE-L ordered and should be with us by the end of May. As usual got a magic deal via Carfile.net. Thats the 3rd in just under 5 years. Read more

The Polo seems expensive even at Carfile: admittledly it was in December 2016, but we only paid a few hundred pounds more than that for the A1 1.4 TFSI. It's quite difficult to see what a Polo offers that a Fabia doesn't, assuming the same engine size.

Did not consider the Audi because the nearest dealer is simply not really convenient. Just looked at Carfiles price and for a 1.0TSi and a similar spec to the Fabia its nearly £18300 with no additional offers. But it does have nav as standard.

One hot day, a thirsty crow flew all over the fields looking for water. For a long time, he could not find any. He felt very weak, almost lost all hope. Suddenly, he saw a water jug below the tree. He flew straight down to see if there was any water inside. Yes, he could see some water inside the jug!

The crow tried to push his head into the jug. Sadly, he found that the neck of the jug was too narrow. Then he tried to push the jug to tilt for the water to flow out, but the jug was too heavy.... Read more

If the crow had actually worked hard
he could've afforded a lovely milk shake from MaccyD
and would not have had had to go scrambling in the dirt looking for pebbles.

Moral : Crows are not the best to be taking morals from,
as as few as 3 of them, will have muderous intent ...

Moral 2 : Crows are a few marbles short , most times.

Isn't it that they have to sell far more diesels than petrols to meet CO2 targets?

I occasionally treat the uberwagen to a tankful of 'premium' fuel in the probably mistaken belief that it will spring clean the injectors and 'do the engine good'. (I have previously proved that the percentage better fuel consumption is considerably less than the percentage increase in price from 'regular' RON 95 fuel). However, the small print on the Sainsbury's nozzle says RON 97, not the 98 mentioned in every owner's handbook I have seen - admittedly not many. Shouldn't 'premium fuel' be at least 98? Are we being diddled? Read more

Hi

I am buying a car from main dealer Vauxhall and i booked the car too but since it is coming from about 100 miles they said we will charge you 100 pounds admin fee. I know cargiant and all charge these fees but I did not know that main car dealers charge it too now. I bought a car few months ago as well from main dealer and they did not charge me anything like that. It does not mention that anywhere on the website. Read more

Tell them straight, you won’t be paying it. If they force the issue then the deal is off and you’ll expect your full deposit returned. This is simply a manager trying to get extra cash from you. Don’t stand for it.

My partner has downsized and finally decided to part with her beloved Z3
It's a 1997 2.8 auto in Montreal Blue metallic with 57 k miles from new.
Totally immaculate with a full service history and no issues.

It has a personalised plate which is three numbers and letters that would be ideal for a lady named Claire as it is the shortened version.

Grateful you're advice on the disposal . Was thinking of selling the plate on eBay but what reserve would you advise.

And how about the car disposal ? And asking price.

Grateful your advice Read more

£2995 seems a bit low to me, when i looked on autotrader the other day there were only 3 (2.8) with less than 50k miles, ranging from £8795 to £12995, and while SLO is probably right about patient dealers/wishful thinkers, i can't help thinking that if the car is in the condition you say, you should manage more than that.

Unless you are in a desperate hurry to offload the car, i'd suggest pricing it as SLO suggests. It is after all, getting to the time of year when more people might be thinking of the nicer weather to come and getting a new toy to enjoy it in!.
