As above, the limits for existing cars are those in force when it was new - so a properly maintained car that hasn't been modified shouldn't have any issues with the MoT.

I am in a dilemna, since my accident I have been chased by 100s of calls asking me to make an injury claim. I am not thinking about it at this time as my priority is to get back to work as I am not earning while staying at home. My insurers suggested there solicitors and said they will fight the claim for you. My question is that do I use there solicitor or should I be looking at any independent solicitors when I make any claims.

Insurance company states our solicitors are best and others say independent works only for you. Read more

Has the 3rd party admitted 100% liability for the damage to you & your car?

If so it will probably be in your interests to look for a solicitor with "liability skills" i.e. knows the ropes of what can be /cannot be claimed....

4 years was always a strange amount of time for a warranty. Bringing it into 3 year, MOT time, is not unreasonable. Limiting the mileage is perhaps less sensible though. 3 yrs ultd mileage would strike a balance.

Carping at the new Renault warranty is a bit disigenous. It's on par with Ford and VAG, probably better than either as both have dependency on the dealership, not the manufacturer for later years. ...

I have an issue that started shortly after a (possibly dodgy) mechanic did some work on my brakes.

When accelerating, sometimes, the revs will drop to idle, as though the clutch had disengaged the engine. If I pull my foot off the throttle and put it back on, it re-engages and accelerates normally. It happens mostly when at 30mph, and I know the car's history is mostly around town.... Read more

If you have had work done on the braking system,I would check to see if the brake lights are working. This could also be the cause of the cruise not working.

Heh, if the air ambulances were fitted with M134 miniguns, they wouldn't have those problems!

Great thought !...

Recently purchased my focus second hand from my local car dealer, upon checking through the paper work at home I discovered that a tow bar has been fitted which was a bonus as I planned to put one on anyway- however I've been unable to find the detachable swan neck bar which should have been there. Phoned the dealer who were unaware that it had one, but would try and trace the towbar through the previous owner, but to no avail. They then said that they would try and find one for me by finding out the serial no.on the towbar mounting on the car, this has proved to be not the case, but they said that a new one could be put on the car but I would have to pay for it!. Now prove me wrong but I was led to believe that because the towbar is already on the car- whether or not they knew it was on the car when they sold the car to me in the first place- they should honour the fact that the towbar is missing and should be with the car therefore they should foot the bill for replacing the towbar?. I'm currently waiting on them to find out if they will replace the towbar. Read more

Double check right under the car, some are retractable towbars, which are released from within the boot. not just a removeable swan neck

Had one on my c max, there should be a round cover in the boot area, remove and there will be a large red control knob with a key in the middle if one is fitted....
