I saw a Range Rover Velar in the car park today and it struck me what a good looking car this was and that I would never own one simply because I value reliability high on my requirements when buying a car. Then I thought why do some companies, namely Land Rover, struggle to make cars reliable in this day and age. You only have to look at the Good and Bad in the HJ reviews to see so many call backs and problems. I understand nothing is perfect and Toyota even had a blip not too long ago but with LR it just seems to be very car they make and they never seem to learn - thoughts please guys. Read more
Bumped a car in supermarket car park, only a tiny scratch on my car. I know it is no excuse but I panicked and drove off and haven't reported to police. There was a passenger in the other car. How likely are they to report to police? Do people more often than not report or not bother? The car park has no CCTV and to my knowledge was no witnesses. I am fully expecting a NIP to come however and will own up for my actions, I have heard they police can prosecute for up to six months after, is the NIP likely to arrive i the next week or so or will it take a while to arrive - what is the average time for a NIP to come in these circumstances (I am registered keeper of the car). Many thanks Read more
Is failure to stop and/or report an accident a 'nippable' offence. I would have thought a Police visit would have been more likely had it been reported
As has already been mentioned, no NIP is required for an allegation of failing to stop/report.
If it is the case, if you were travelling several miles within an ASC zone at say 50mph maximum speed limit, and for 3/4 of that distance there was a traffic crawl and you didn't go over 10 mph, could you then go at 70 mph for the last 1/4 and not get a ticket? Or do these cameras act like speed cameras as well and ticket you if you break the speed limit? Read more
Marry the two technologies together and you have an intelligent speed limiter.
Some vehicles will be capable of 69.75mph in a 70 zone and some 70.25 with other limits similar discrepancies, so all those who have complained about lorry elephant racing will find out for themselves what living with speed limiters has been like, enjoy.
Anybody venturing into France in the near future might like to bear this in mind.

Interesting - I only asked because of the somewhat odd situation (to the english) where the official marriage takes place in the mairie and church afterwards is optional.
Currently in France, marriage itself seems to be optional!...

Morning all,
Just after some help with some work my girlfriend has recently had done at a local garage. The fiesta failed its MOT on the rear suspension bushes (common fault) and needed some welding on the chassis next to these mounts.
Now I just popped my head under to see what had been done and noticed one of the bushes they have not managed to get all the way in, it's sticking out and they have had to adjust the mounting point to suit (there is a link to some hosted pictures below). Also the welding doesn't look too great either. On top of that they have left the hand brake cable off the clip on the subframe at each side.
Although I'm not a mechanic, I have done quite abit of work on cars in the past, just get the feeling it's abit of a shoddy job, should I be taking it back to them to sort or is it acceptable.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Good morning , I have a question regarding aftermarket car parts , OK , I am replacing my timing chain kit at some point in the coming weeks , I've had a look around various small and large motor factors in my local area and 2 brands keep getting offered , Fai auto parts and Bga automotive parts , both of which are classed as oe (original equipment), has anyone used these brands of parts and if so are they any good , I have enquired with Ford and although they offer a kit as such , they will only sell the relevant parts separately , and so this becomes very expensive , a friend of mine has said that Ford have suppliers that make the parts that are fitted to their cars when being built and most likely use some of the 2 brands listed somewhere along the line , any advice appreciated , thanks in advance Read more

Had a minor fault with my 2015 XF for just over a year now, its an intermittant fault with the rear view camera either going blank or the guide lines not coming up onscreen. always clears after turning the car off and on again - no fault codes show up and Jaguar didnt believe there was a problem until I was able to film the issue occuring several times
However Jaguar have now been trying to fix the issue for over a year, has been into the main dealers 9 times and had the camera unit replaced twice but the fault keeps coming back.... Read more

Brave man Movi, talking like that about the England they're about to concrete over, they'll be sending you to one of the re-education camps or you'll have antifa hope not soap or some other unemployables on your doorstep demonstrating about free speech...pause for irony sigh...or something else they don't quite grasp.
