The people at Skoda must be so upset their design flair has been watered down by their VW paymasters such that this Karoq is almost a carbon copy of the Tiguan.

No wonder the Yeti name was dropped as this has no such quirky Skoda design credentials. Read more

I have had my Yeti for three years and been delighted with it despite the VW engine scandal. I was looking forward to swapping for a newer Yeti at the end of my PCP deal but am horrified to learn that there are no more Yetis. The Kodiaq is too big and when eventually the Karoq is available its styling is so like so many other cars I despair. If it ain't broke, why mend it? Why change such a popular car? Well done VW/Skoda, you have lost a happy customer.

I think this will be a good seller for VW but as usual you have to pay big money for a decent spec , which in reality makes no difference when it come to trading it in a few years down the line .
The likes of KIA Nissan ect are right up there now as far as quality and more so with aftersales service and their cars do come well loaded up with things that VW charge a small fortune for.
Even so i recon this will be a big hit as i think it looks great . Read more

So if this is a SEAT Ateca competitor, it must also be competing against VW's own Tiguan?

Groovy - I like this a lot so hopefully the production model remains true to this concept. Read more

I seem to remember reading there were ongoing problems with Skode`s DSG automatic if it had a dry clutch. Looking at buying a 1.2TSI auto but wary about possible problems with the auto system. Any advice ?. Read more

Yeah I would 2nd that. Had a Octavia dsg dry clutch, replaced at 30k and still wasn't right, had to get rid. Personally I wouldn't buy another VAG car. If you want a reliable efficient petrold auto look at the Toyota Auris hybrid, great cars.

I have a 2005 Zafira A, 16v 1.6 petrol.

A couple of weeks ago the gauges on the dashboard started dropping to zero for a second or two whilst driving. ABS light would also come on at this point. Engine would carry on fine. It seemed - although I can't be certain - that it was most likely to occur just after some kind of bump or pothole.... Read more

Firstly, all Zafira A models have 3 wire power steering systems,so not too sure what the garage are taliking about..All the faults you have encountered, may be caused by a faulty alternator. Not a low voltage issue ,but overcharging, where the voltage can rise above 16 volts, whereby a lot of the electrical units will shut down to prevent damage.May be an idea to monitor battery voltage when the fault occurs.

I have Ford Fiesta 1.4 tdci 2012 model which was not in use for 5-6 months after that the white smoke from exhaust on starting up which dissipates after 50 - 60 seconds. It's not dependant on the weather however I've noticed it's when the car has been stood after a couple of hours, obviously more noticeable on start up first thing. It doesn't happen when driving either. I've checked the coolant & oil levels and there's no leak or its not dropping rapidly. The smoke is white / greyish not thick and like I said quickly dissipates, there is a smell which I think smells like deisel..

Those who followed my recent saga with my Jag x type (04, 174k miles) and its extended holiday in France will know that I had reason to contemplate scrapping it and buying a new car (Dacia was top of the list). I have lost some confidence in the old girl and don't know whether I'd trust her for a foreign trip again.

Another thought has occurred to me, which is buying another car while the jag is still running, so I don't get caught in that awful trap of buying a car quick because you have to (failed mot, terminal failure, etc.) and while I have the luxury of time and transport to drive around looking at alternatives.... Those who followed my recent saga with my Jag x type (04, 174k miles) ............ I have lost some confidence in the old girl and don't know whether I'd trust her for a foreign trip again.

A well known fault has been remedied. You know her even better than you did before. So logically you should have as much if not more confidence in her as you had before you left for France. ...
