Hello there,
So I am wondering what rights I have, and/or who to go after for compensation, given the following situation:... Read more
Thanks for all the replies so far.
I've started the HPI dispute process, and I'll post back when I hear anything, if they ask for any information I don't have, or if I just get no joy out of them.
Hi , i wonder if someone could assist or if anyone has had this before , i own a 2006 ford mondeo estate 1.8 duratec , so a month or so ago , i had my window down and whilst i was accelerating , there was like a chatter rattle noise coming from the driver side engine area , it doesnt happen when slowing down and there doesnt appear to be any noise of a rattle kind on idle , just the usual gentle tapping noises , i recently had the aux belt replaced and the mechanic checked all the pulleys on that side , so im at a loss at the min , it doesnt affect the car in any way , still starts and drives , just interested to find out what the noise is , can it be causing any damage and what the severity of the source is , thanks in advance Read more
Unless it has done warp factor mileage,I would think it unlikely to be the chain. What these engines do suffer with ,is intake manifold runner flap failure, which produces a rattle from the top of the engine.
Some of the regulars may recall that someone drove into my car nearly two years ago and that it took over a year to settle. The whys and wherefores are not relevant to this but things were settled in my favour. Because of its age the car was written off,. I brought it back and now run it on a Classic Policy as it is over 20 years old having brought another car for daily use.
Out of the blue today I got a call today from the above company on a Manchester (0161) number.Usually scammers are quite obvious by the high level of background noise, lack of any detail and, sometimes, heavy foreign accents. This person sounded quite plausible and knew details of the other driver and my car. He told me I was due £2000 compensation for shock and the jolt when I was hit. I suffered no injury and was more annoyed than shocked as it had been totally avoidable (the other driver was just driving to fast for the situation/road conditions). I started getting suspicious that although he had a lot of details he did not know if I had any passengers and the make/model of the other vehicle.... Read more
I want a Lenny!
As the above, I fancy a DAB radio in the car but ideally would like it to be compatible with the OEM 6-CD changer under the passenger seat.
Is this possible?... Read more
Thanks for some good and varied ideas, I'll look into them all.
I know vw make good cars but after diesel gate i am surprised that they continue to sell in such high numbers , having read some real horror stories about cars that have been in for the emmisions fix and came out worse than ever , limp mode, new fuel rails needed, egr valves ect ect , and garages trying to charge the customer because vw would not foot the bill . Having had reliability issues with VW in the past, I would normally be the last person to defend them, however their new 2.0Tdi engine is excellent. I believe that this newer engine was fitted from around 2015 onwards. It doesn't suffer from the emissions problems of the previous version plus the EGR system has been completely redesigned so it will no longer soot up - solving an issue which affects many diesels eventually. (from all manufacturers) The sheer torque of the 190 BHP version of the VAG 2.0 diesel is incredible, making it an effortless motorway cruiser compared to the 1.4TSi engine which I found to be gutless in comparison through the midrange on the same journeys, I did wonder when pulling out of junctions whether the accelerator pedal was communicating with the engine by second class post....
my car has failed the MOT because tyre is fitted the wrong way round. My question,is the tyre on the rim the wrong way round or the wheel on the wrong side of the car? Read more
DIrectional tyres have to revolve the right way...no saying how performance will be affected if they are fitted the wrong way.
Here's an odd one though - Uniroyal Rainsport 3 look as if they could be directional, but they are actually assymetric. Looking at the tread, it appears to be designed to shift water when revolving one way, but not the other. Not so. ...
My youngest son's current laptop is officially dead, but being the age he is (16) and the school work he has to do, he really needs one. Problem is that cash is a bit scarce at the moment, and due to other commitments, I don't want to take on anything else on finance. So I'm reaching out to any expert's among us on what the best laptop out there for under £300 would be?. He wouldn't be using it for gaming, just his school work.

Been looking on the web as they seem to offer good deals but its a bit of a mine field , some want a small deposit ,some want none but my biggest bug bare is after looking @ reviews are the ones who dont give you the v5 when you get your new car seems its to do with fleet sales .Tried carwow but they overinflate the prices in the first place and that big company who advertise vans on the telly ! well there prices are to good to be true and when you look @ the reviews on the web its a wonder they sell any cars .
I wonder if i should just wait until december to buy a new car as the dealers might be very be keen on a good deal just prior to xmas . ?. Read more
Uk car discount dont give the V5 and in reply to the other poster why should someone who buy's a new car have to apply for the v5 the V5 should be given to the new first owner the day they collect the car .
Compressor has become very dead and my local garage has tried any number of replacement parts without success. Yes parts companies have replacements but when received they seem not to be the correct ones. Seems Peugeot isthe only supplier of correct parts at nearly £1000 inc VAT !!!!
Any alternatives orideas?... Read more
