Ffs getting MOT done and then my insurance is showing up on ASKmid as not insured.
Could someone please nominate a minibus insurer gocompare van insurance is (wait for it!) £8000+ ??????
I'm looking completely incompetent here but truth is my husband who I have left has just dumped this on me with my 5 month old, zero money, no home. So the bus is our only place to stay.
Any help for insurers is greatly appreciated x Read more
Please can someone undo whatever they've seemingly done thismorning.
When you click on the ''FORUM'' button top right instead of it going straight to the forum it now brings up another box with three possibles, small annoyance granted but we appear to have fixed something that wasn't broken in the first place, car and lorry makers do this regularly, fix what wasn't broken in the first place, ie manual parking brakes, and this being one of the last remaining defence posts of common sense in car matters........ I noted the same change, though I would say that when I use my tablet instead of my PC to access the site, the lack of drop-down menus (which rarely work with tablets as you can't 'hover' over one as you can with a mouse on a PC) means its a bit easier to access other parts of the site - though tapping (or clicking directly with the mouse) on the 'forum' and 'reviews' drop-down menus took me straight to the car-by-car reviews and forum anyway - it was the 'other' items on the lists that you had to go 'round the house' to access if you were using a tablet or phone.
I suppose the new version is far cheaper than producing a 'tablet/phone' version of the website that newspapers (for example) like the Telegraph charge extra for access to, which I'm sure would be uneconomic for this website. An extra 'click' on PCs won't harm anyone in my view - I'm sure there's much more important issues for us all to be concerned with at the moment.
Looking for dash cam with high quality HD results. Which brand will be ok? Read more
I bought my dashcam from Aldi for £25 and the quality is good, as is the build quality.
I've had it about 18 months now and not had an issue with it and I've been involved in an accident and used the video as evidence of liability; the quality of the video being that good even after compression you could still see the registration plates....

Thank you I'm happy with your response about the tear, to me it seemed not worth it but if it in fact, no matter how small fails the MOT then I'll accept it's a fail (as I'm not a mechanic)
And certainly not spam, please don't insult someone who is being friendly and helpful by passing on details about garages who've given good service. Not enough people do that these days, so rookies like me could end up possibly with expensive mistakes. I've written a review on yell and have absolutely no affiliation to this garage. However, I will always promote any org/comp thats given a great service. I didn't realise you couldn't be helpful these days without some cynical jobsworth having a pop. Don't suppose you voted for Labour Party ?? And take offence just like I did about your comment. But get over it just like I have after writing this to make me feel better:)
Watch this space though as my clutch pedal, on a half push has thee tiniest of squeaks!! ????
Ffs! ?? More money!!
Thanks forcallbyour help in choosing the Mk1 Yaris auto for my sons girlfriend.
16 years old and in her 18 months ownership it has been faultless.
Now with 65 k and fully serviced and MOTD we have the opportunity to buy a very low mileage i10 with the TConverter gearbox. It has less than 5k miles and and the balance of the warranty.
Grateful your views Read more
Good point; I was confuddled with andyp's post.
Apologies.
My son has just e-mailed me about this car, a model I’m not at all familiar with. He and girlfriend (both clueless about cars) are due to look at a second-hand example very soon.

if they are clueless about cars then jazz is just fine, reliable ,smooth, good boot. pleasant. but its not the car you could fall in love with. early models had gearbox problems at 100,000 miles
Hi All I am new here come here hoping to get some answers/suggestions Many thanks in advanced I appreciate any form of help.
Anyways I have just passed my driving test (I am 29 years old) a bit late I know but finally got round to it - so now the time has come to look for a first car... Read more
The best advice we can give you at this budget level is to look for condition - and if possible some evidence that the car has been looked after properly - rather than make or model.
That said, as suggested above, a Ford Focus is a good idea as there are lots of them around to choose from: otherwise I'd look at a Toyota or Honda. Don't buy a diesel whatever you do: old ones can go very expensively wrong, negating any advantage in fuel consumption.
Ten years ago I bought a three year old ex mobility car for around 25 to 30% of the new list price. During its time on the scheme the previous user handed over their benefit payment to have use of the car.
This monthly payment also covered tax, insurance, servicing and even tyres! I can't believe what was left over was anything like enough in the 3 years to cover depreciation.
Almost forty years ago I used to service and repair the last of the light blue invalid carriages. I
always felt very sorry that the drivers not only had to contend with their disabilities, but also had to stand out like a sore thumb because of the vehicle they were forced to drive.
The scheme seems to have changed totally since that time, now most vehicles seem to be available to users and the level of disability needed to qualify for it has greatly decreased ( I can only relate this to the very disabled people I used to deal with during my time).
I'm sure the overall cost of this scheme is very high, but could surely be reduced by bulk buying suitable cars from say a handful of manufacturers. You could still offer a small , medium or large car, depending on needs - or am I missing something?

A number of tolls are reduced or free for those with the higher disabilities - but often need application in advance, for instance the M6 Toll.

It is not that easy to get insurance for a commercial vehicle, such as your minibus, for private use. The insurance companies will assume you are moonlighting as a private hire driver. The fact you are actually living in it will then make it even more tricky. The only thing I would suggest is to get in touch with a company that deals with motor homes, a smaller company where you can speak to, and get advice from an actual person.
Though as I'm sure you are aware, you need to get in touch with social services, regarding your situation.
