oldroverboy.

I live at the top left corner of a T shaped close, and was expecting a delivery today from a 6 wheeler bringing a load of timber and gravel. Normally the bin lorries can squeeze in with people parked on one side of the vertical bit of the T, but cannot when people park on the footpath on the opposite side of the road, which can cause problems for anything bigger than a big twin rear wheel type van, but most of the time it is ok.

As I was waiting outside for the delivery driver, a lady (who I did not know) drove in and parked her car on the path but partly onto the road, and when o sid " Hullo" can you move your car to the side (onto the footpath) (please) as i had a large lorry turning up, and didn't want her car to be damaged I received some of the worst abuse I have ever had from one of the (fairer?) opposte sex. She walked off, but returned a few minutes later when the delivery lrry arrived and moved it, to which I said thank you, and got more abuse. Delivery driver shocked....... Read more

I was most imoressed with the bus driver negotiating his way down from The Great Orme.

A chicane of parked cars that would have fazed the drivers of many smaller vehicles.

Hi guys. Sorry I posted this in the wrong section before.

I'm after some advice. I had an accident on the 30th march on my way home from work and it was on a round about.
I entered the round about and wanted the take the 3rd exit on to a dual carriageway. The 3rd part entered the roundabout as I passed the 1st junction of the roundabout he was in the left hand lane of the dual carriage.
As I attempted to leave the roundabout at the 3rd junction the 3rd part continued to go around the roundabout in the wrong lane and hit my car with the drivers front corner of his car. The damage to my car is down the passengers side and extends about half way down my car.

We both pulled over and after discussing the accident he accepted liability as he admitted he was in the wrong lane and wanted to continue around the roundabout. No wistnesses as no one stopped! We exchanged details eventually which Ill be honest I didn't think was going to happen as the 3rd part wanted to go and discuss things more and possibly pay cash for repairing my vehicle which I was not up for! Anyway things sorted we both went on our way.

I obviously raised a claim with my insurance company Hastings direct as soon as I got home. A week passed I'd heard nothing so I did a little chasing and so did my insurance company. Who found out the 3rd party now was disputing liability even though they were still admitting to being in the wrong lane.
Unfortunately I was on holiday for the next two weeks so I wasn't able to push things further.
When I returned I found a letter from the 3rd parties insurance company (direct line) dated from before I went away accepting liability.

Just over a month on I'm still stuck in the same place of a disputed liability claim. Even though I have a letter of admission.

What can I do? Any advice would be great as I'm really frustrated and starting to pull my hair out.

Hope this maked sense

Regards

When I was having driving lessons more than 30 years ago, one of the pieces of wisdom the instructor was constantly repeating was that when exiting a roundabout always to check that nothing had crept up on the inside lane.

Seems like knock-for-knock to me.

The OP would have had to move left one lane and exit the roudabout at the same time, they should have moved left one lane after the exit before the one they wanted. The other car could have been in either lane if going straight on....

Theres not going to be a diesel scrappage scheme after all. Apparently it would cost a Brexit amount of money (£60+ billion ???). Instead an immediate demand has been issued for local authorities to create another 21 clean air zones in addition to the 5 already mandated by whatever means necessary (read tax, charge, penalty or ban) asap.

I think the massive discounts were removed because they'd sold off most of the overproduction of the previous 2 years, and weren't going to get caught like that again with dis or partly used airfields covered in thousands of new and nearly new defleeted cars that they were desperate to shift.

We all recall the bargains that could be had around 2008, though how something that still costs £thousands and loses money day after day for as long as it lasts could ever be called a bargain is another question.

I am looking foward to my first ever camping in Scotland end of this month for 1 week, my grandmother gave me two of her gas stove blue Gaz stand but the gas were empty since in 1990s. There are two type of canister C200 190g super butane and C206 190g mixed propane/butane was include. So which is best for me? the C200 is hard to find now, would the C206 make any different to the C200?

how long is the 190 grams canister to last me? for 5 days cooking on morning and evening... Read more

Bromptonaut is right. Be very careful where you use the stove for the reasons he pointed out. Frying and heating soup, beans etc is fine. Anything more sophisticated just use your microwave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Concrete

For ages Ive been looking for a better understanding of how the DPF works and what things affect it and what style of driving is best for it. In my searching I found this that could be of onterest to some.

Railroad.

The message doesn't seem to be getting through to people who are still buying diesels because of the good fuel economy they're capable of. Almost all of diesel engine problems are self inflicted because drivers still don't seem to understand that you must use them properly, or you will have expensive problems. For those who do short journeys a petrol is a much better choice.

Hi, I need some advice on what to do about my Megane. I need to sell / trade due to it not having air conditioning as my daughter has sensory issues with how hot it gets in the summer. It is in perfect condition mechanically and has really low mileage (26,000) as it used to be my grandads and I've only had it for about 18 months. Problem is my grandad was still driving well in to his 80's and he's knocked it about a fair bit. A large dent on drivers door, scratches on wing mirrors, bad scrapes along bumper etc. I want to get a good price so I can buy a decent replacement so I need to either get the body work sorted and then sell for a decent price or sell it for cheaper and do nothing about the body work. One dealer said they would only give about 100 quid part ex because of the bodywork, I told them to b***** off. If the cosmetics were OK I'd sell it for around 1,500 - 2000 but I have no idea how much it's likely to cost to fix up. The only other option is to have air con put in the car but I expect that'll cost more than the car itself!

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Read more

It sounds like the Megane has to go; you will get most money by selling privately. The low mileage will appeal to some. You then need to find a car which had good air-con initially, even if its since failed. Cars after about 2013 may be MUCH more expensive to fix, due to the different refrigerant.
You need to find a model with air-con that suits your daughter's needs - will she be in the back seats ? a/c can be very ineffective in some cars. Good Luck with the search, hopefully other contributors will be able to recommend cars with good a/c, possibly for back seat passengers.

Recent propaganda from various EU figures shows their true nature and hostility to Britain.

What has the EU done for us? Ended the perpetual cycle of wars between France and Germany which always seems to embroil our "boys"

...and let in a load of illegal immigrants and terrorists via the back door to start guerilla wars on our own soil, just when our own internal terrorism problems were coming to an end. I personally don't buy the line that the Common Market/EEC/EC/EU has kept Europe 'in peace' since WW2, given many internal problems have been bubbling under the surface for years and are noew surfacing....
