I still have half of the gallon of car wash I bought in 2003 but, bought some of the Bilt Hamber super concentrated car wash a while back.
I like the BH Autobalm, it's soo easy to put on and buff. It beads water for months and it's not abrasive.
My wife's meriva has worn piston rings and the age of the cars means that there is no way I am spending money on replacing them. Is there any point in using Wynns as a tempoary fix till I can get a trade in on a replacement?

Worn or sticking piston rings.?Remove the spark plugs and put a small amount of Redex down the bores and leave for 48 hrs.(spark plugs left out).
That would be my fist move as well. Stick plenty down when engine is hot, about 15ml. Before starting cover the plug holes with a rag and turn over the engine to blast out the red-X. If you need the car every day just leave it overnight but do it twice. A healthy dolop in the fuel to will help. Will smoke a lot on start up.
So I've recently sold my BMW 1 Series 120D M Sport convertible as I needed a larger vehicle.
I now have some cash to buy a cheaper convertible too. I'm wondering what you all think about BMW 3 Series versus Audi A4, versus Audi TT, (all petrol models).? Had an old TT previously and loved it but it's very thirsty, as is the A4. Beamer better on fuel and tax but about £2k more expensive initially, which I will struggle to find.
Any thoughts please? Read more
Hey folks thanks for the tips. I have £6k approx. All the cars are 2007. The Audis are both around £6k, the BMW close to £8k.
Yes the appearance of what I drive is a factor and I'm not a fan of the shape of the MX5.
I would include the links to Autotrader but I'm not that tech savvy!
Any more help based on this info welcomed, thanks again all.
Our local Tesco is selling Castrol Magnatec 5W30 full synth, ACEA C3 spec for £10 per litre or £18 for a 2-litre bottle, which isn't a bad price for a topping-up bottle for many modern petrol-engined cars.

engine will not tick over when cold plus lack of power when cold keeps cutting out once warm it will run but it sound if it is missing i have changed the plugs but it still sounding the same and still not ticking over nor will it pull away when cold Read more
This engine is well known for timing chain problems. It's possible the chain has stretched and knocked the timing out which explains the rough running and lack of power. Stop using it, there's a strong possibility it'll fail completely if this is what is causing the noise. It's highly likely and it'll kill the engine if it snaps. It was never a good engine.
If anyone owns or intend on buying any GM product with this engine it's vital that it has fresh good quality oil every year. If there's no proof of it or you've neglected it, it will go wrong. This one has lasted longer than most though so someone must have been caring for it at some point.
Hi
I recently bought this car, was impressed with the low mileage and ir ran smoothly on the test drive, it also has a full service history and is generally immaculate. MOT was April 2016.... Read more
Well I've booked my car in for a service at the end of the month at a reputable family dealer I found. After looking at the service book the last one was at 27,000 miles exactly 2 years ago. The car has only done 3,500 miles since then! It really wasn't used much at all.. perhaps not so great for a diesel?
Hi folks, I'm looking to buy a a year old car which I'll be using for business and pleasure. I'll be driving around 20000 miles a year on motorway and around cities. I'd considered leasing but although I have the funds in the bank I can't get credit easily due to being self employed
I'd be looking to trade in again in around 2 years. My budget is around £10000. I'm 6ft 6ins so legroom is vital and relatively economical driving. I've been looking st the Dacia Duster to the Ford Focus but no set ideas. Any ideas on something that would retain a reasonable trade in value ? I like automatics but not essential and a DAB radio would be nice.
Thanks for reading and advice.

More than happy to help if you contact Avant for my info.
New or used we have funders who can work with you, self employment isn't usually an issue in itself as we have plenty of self employed/sole traders on the books. The point made about trading history is true but even new starts can be accommodated in most cases
Thank you oldroverboy
Hi!
Recently fixed all the major problems with my ford, Dpf, Additive module, Turbo charger, Controll valve for tubo(overboost situatoion), and EGR circuit low wich was given by Blocked Intercooler by-pass valves.
I still have a problem that seems to be coming form nowhere. The Engine Malfunction warning seems to be coming on every time I start the car. I use the car daily and for a week singe I've eliminated the major problems, I keep getting this message without any code stored. Heard rumors that it might be the glowplugs, but since their not that accesible and will check them sooner or later, I was wondering if this might be a problem form something else.
Thank You ! Read more
Didn't perform the test but i'm going to look into it
