Got this 2006 1.9 cdti its breathing heavy and smoking so my mechanic blocked off the breather then run a piece of heater pipe into airbox so it vents there as opposed to leaving pipe so fumes come back up through engine bay, air filter is out by the way.
Is there any other way of doing this so car breathes better?
Anyone got any ideas.?
I think the engine is on its last knocking's due to it being run low on oil I've been told just want a bit more time from it. Read more
The "New Yeti" I'm afraid looks like all the other SUV's on the road. What a shame, the current Yeti looks unique and a car that stands out in a crowd, I've no doubt the new one will perform OK but the design is like all the others. Read more
I got the Yeti because I like the old CRV shape; at the time we had a folding camper and the visibility factor was good. Now towing a light caravan; I see the logic of a 2t tug, which is what Škoda have done. The bigger boot rectifies the biggest flaw in the Yeti..
My prediction isthat they will develop a small SUV on the Fabia /polo chassis; that where rallying went some years ago.
With regards to the new fuel efficiency test, can anyone tell me if this is still a con trick? Yes, clearly they have changed some things but is this just a distraction to avoid us noticing other crimes against the driving public like taking off the wing mirrors and disconnecting the power steering pump as well as other things.

"Thanks for that I appreciate it, The vectra I've been looking at had has it's cam belt replaced within the last 3,000 miles so very recently."
This won't defend against the VVT pulleys failing I'm afraid. Listen for a rattle when it starts and when accelerating from low speed. They all go eventually and most owners will flog it rather than fix it. An Astra with the more straightforward 1.4 or 1.6 petrol is a much better bet. Cheap to buy and mechanically simple.
Vauxhalls were and still are in some cases very robust cars but in recent years the firm have desperately been trying to stem massive annual losses via cost cutting so quality has tumbled. The previous gen Vectra was bland but sturdy and the Cavalier before it was a genuinely great family bus that was hard to kill. As is always the case simplicity is best in the longterm.

Where is the bite point on yours. I drove one today and it seems it is a bit too high and a sligh ptessure on the clutch and it slips.
However if you engage the cluch whilst on the move then the RPM starts to rise at about 1/3 rd from the floor. Car had done 57,000 miles... Read more
Has the clutch been adjusted recently?
Some clutches auto adjust but should be easy to check if clutch is properly adjusted....
