I'm ready to buy a replacemt car and whilst my 2004 audi would likely qualify for the scrappage scheme I am not buying a new car so won't benefit. My concern is will my propsed 2011/12 Touareg shed its vaule soon based on the new hatred of diesels? looking to spend 13k ish and would be gutted to lose 40% in a year as I've read in press. Briefly looked at petrol q5. Any thoughs or am I worrying unnecessarily? cheers folks Read more

Hello,

My elderly neighbours fiat punto went for its MOT today, and she was upset to hear it failed on excessive corrossion on all of its front subframe mountings. Is this a common problem and is it a massive fix? ... Read more

This reminds me of an old MG 1100 I had. Despite borrowing the works portable oxy-acetyleline bottles every weekend for more weekends than I care to remember - I gave up in the end - the rear subframe continued to try to escape upwards through the boot floor - scrapped it.

Hi There, if anyone is looking at buying a car from a dealer but wants a cheaper finance package, then please get in touch with me. I can offer HP, PCP's and Lease purchases, and will spend as much time as needed to help you get the right option for you, and then you can go to the dealer and negotiate on the price of the car. I can settle existing finance settlements and the finance is attaached to the vehicle which is more protection for you, we simply send the dealer the funds. Please contact me on (deleted)

Thank you Avant, always happy to help.

Re the discount, you could be right but the whole market is doing it, we're also getting high 30's off ford transits and 45+% off Citroen relays... go figure!

Mercs we get double figure discounts plus an extra 3-4K from our dealers on different models each month

But then other cars the discount is much less, only a few % on the F-Pace (retail aren't giving any discount at all to public) and I doubt the new Velar will get much for us either and def nothing much for public to start with

Hey guys!

When turning the steering wheel, I'm getting a light 'knock'. With my attention now being more drawn to this issue, it sounds like I've also got a quiet 'rattle' in that area, underneath the steering column too - it's not too bad, but I am fussy; the sound sounds like... perhaps, when track rods ends would wear in a car (if you know what I mean).... UJ is short for Universal Joint.

Might be worth checking you're not covered by the recall for steering issues too: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/miscellaneous/2012-11/to.../

You can't wire directly into the existing light wiring. You will need a tow bar by-pass relay.about £20.

Air bag light light is permanently on. I took it to a dealer who said that the Gateway behind the dash is faulty Gateway 3B0920929AX would have to be sourced from Germany net cost £359,14 plus vat plus fitting about £800. My indepentant Garage said that he could take the light off with his diognostic Computer but this would last about 5 months, but enough to passs the mot. Is there a cheaper way to sort out this problem?

IME most of these problems involve the connections under the front seats.

I'd suggest it could do you you no harm in to unplug the connectors and re-connect them a few times. It may take a while for the warning light to extinguish, but this may be due to the number of times the ignition is turned off and on....

LOL I thought you were on my side Cyd. Point by point.

Torque is a force, a rotational force, it can be static, a coil spring in a watch has torque even when its not doing anything. It has no frictional losses I have been talking about the basic torque generated by the engine at the flywheel, a fundamental characteristic of the engine....

Saw this advert last night and was intrigued as to what kind of car it is. You dont see very much of it, just the window line and some of the interior. I paused the TV it and had as good a look as i could. Then, being a bit of a nerd, started thinking back through 'my memery archives'!.The car is a coupe and looks to be mid 60's to mid 70's, pillarless, and has quarterlights. Oh, and doesnt look big enough to be a yank.

1st thought was opel manta A, but i couldnt find any pics of one with quarterlights, plus, the rear window looks much deeper than the car in the advert. Next thought was a fiat 850 coupe, which has quarterlights and a shallower rear window, but doesnt appear to be pillarless!. Current theory is an opel commodore 'A' coupe, which is pillarless, and has the quarterlights!.... Read more

I didn't have time to look at Commodore when I looked at Rekord. Anyway, you now have confirmation. Interesting to see car at end of ad is a Fiat 127, of course a much smaller car.
