If there were a genuine seriousness to tackle the problem the authorities could easily take further action in London:

- congestion charge to penalise private vehicles over about 1.2 litres. A large vehicle in London is usually self indulgent and unnecessary,...

Standard equipment on the titanium were automatic headlights that switch on at low light.

Recently the lights would come on say in a shaded area in daylight. Switch the dipped lights on but then when moving along in bright light not switching off. Also noticed that they are not coming on as soon as before in low light conditions.

Any idea what could be affecting the sensor? Read more

Hello again Doc.

Sensor is clean. Original screen. System activates in low light like it should but then when you emerge into bright daylight the dipped stay on almost continually when they should go out. Only resets when the car ignition is off and restarted. I thought the same as you that the screen sensor might of been obscured.

I have a 2013 Passat 2.0 CR TDi estate which has just reached 93,000 miles - we had it for a year now - doing 12,000 miles (give or take) and have been told that the DMF is starting to fail, which was one of my fears with buying another disel.

The average quote is £900 to replace the clutch & flywheel.... Read more

Try a trade in. Never had any inspection on mine or been asked any questions. If there is a decent profit margin on the deal they won't care.

Look at www.fixmystreet.com/ and other similar sites to see if it was reported.

If it was, you could have a legitimate claim. If it wasn't, why don't you report problems to prevent others suffering damage?

Railroad.

Although they do happen ECM failures are rare. If you suspect yours has failed there are companies who test and repair them. Do a Google search before buying a new one. Most likely your fault lies elsewhere as the Doc says.

I was asked for advice on buying a small four door car today. The last time I ran a small car was 1985 (a Mk II Escort although I still have one as a SORN’d project) so I do not really feel able to advise. The lady is recently retired and looks after her 2 year old grandson three days a week. She currently runs an old shape Ka but finds reaching into the back to do up (and undo) the child seatbelts difficult as she has a back problem. So, she is after a small four door car with reasonable luggage space. Her budget is £5000 - £6000 and reliability is paramount. Any suggestions?... Read more

As said years ago - "The lady is not for turning". She liked both the drive and the colour with the added bonus of zero rate tax. Someone has suggested that is may be exempt from the conestion charge - she travels into the centre of London in peak times fairly regularly. I have posted seperately about this.

She has asked the saleman for a copy of the warranty before commiting to anything. He has not emailed it as promised but started to try and sell insurance. He might wish he had kept his promise tomorrow as she is a determined lady!

Today I was offered this product where for an, allegedly, small premium your insurance excess is protected. I did not follow it up is excess is to me one of the things you need to try and avoid, and in the worst case live with.... Read more

Hi i need to buy a second hand automatic, with a high roof.

I need allot of space to get in and out of the car. Due to a back problem and problem with bending.

Can you suggest any models that would be suitable with a person with a back problem ?

Probably a people carrier because of the high roof and large door clearance.

Thanks

Myra. Read more

No, seriously if you want to know which engine is fitted to your car, or anything else about the specification, the easiest way is to go to the Ford Etis website:...
