In July this year I visited Ireland in my u k reg audi. Today I have received a demand for an unpaid toll fee x2 totalling £5.16 plus STR penalties of £5.00. Total £10.16. From a company called EPC plc. I passed through no toll booths without paying. Is this a scam? Read more
Last year, I bought a MGB Roadster from a private seller. It was advertised on the internet as a "1967 MGB Roadster Mark 1", and that it had been subject to a "complete nut and bolt restoration in 2006", for which I have a full photographic record. I still have a printout of the ad from the website.
It is in absolutely mint condition, and I paid a very full price of £12,950... Read more
This was BL or whatever they happened to be called on the day the car in question was made, not sure i'd put my last 50p on betting the chassis numbers didn't have some oddities floating about.
Agree with Skidpan, keep schtum and enjoy your fine car.

Why not visit a trailer specialist and see what they say.
Hi All
Last Friday night, 26 Sept, on my way to a friend on the A406. At the junction of the A105. I'm stopped behind 2 cars on the inside lane of 3. On my right a 10 wheels lory. At the green light, we all move forward, the lory in the middle lane, me in the inside one, into another 3 lanes.... Read more
I had exactly same situation back in beginning of july 2014 where I had less luck and being hit badly by back of lorry in EXACTLY same place.
There's an ad on LBC (and presumably other radio stations) with what sounds like a Rally navigator but turns out to be school run Mum dropping the brat off. The pace notes tell you to "mind the leaves" and "watch for puddle" - why? Can't the Audi's "legendary" 4WD system cope with a puddle and a few leaves? What an own goal! Read more
Dealership adverts for all makes are terrible and I'm surprised that the manufacturers entertain it.
If you configure your own MINI, starting with a Cooper SD and add various options and packs, what kind of lead time are you looking at these days? If I ordered a car in October would I get it before XMAS?

<< Bottom line is Ford, GM, Peugeot do not make any cars in this country now but some of the Mini's are assembled in Oxford. >>
They're still making Astras at Ellesmere Port AFAIK?...
I have a car in Europe I need to get back to the UK.
It is not being used and is SORNd with no mot but is insured
My understanding is that I can take it on the ferry home and drive home if I am booked into an MOT. Does anyone know if this is correct? Does it matter how far the MOT station is from the ferry port as long as I am going 'direct'?
I figure I will probably get stopped via ANPR activation with both cars....
I understand that for the car that is SORN'd the SORN is not valid as it is not in the UK...bit late for that...
I will try and ask the police next week what the deal is but would be interested to hear views from here. I think I asked the DVLA or VOSA before and I think the view was as I described above.
I am most worried about the SORN'd car returning as I know if i get in trouble for that if what I describe above is not correct. I know I have committed an offense by SORN'ing a vehicle which is not in the UK - very stupid of me I know.
Thanks
Jake

Thank you for the reply - it seems that not everyone is picked up the minute they enter the UK. How long ago was this?
I understand the tax cameras are getting very good in the UK but unless they catch me immediately I would be free to drive it to a very close by MOT station...

We have a 1997 Mazda 626 LXi 2.0 and we've been having a problem with losing power we've had a full service done a diagnostics done and even a Mazda service center try and find the problem and they said it was the center pipe and back box of the exhaust we took those off and it still does it. Now he even took the catalytic converter off and put a straight pipe in and it still does it...Any suggestions what it may be now? We're stumped..and my husband is mad that the Mazda dealer said it was the exhaust and it wasn't. Please help!! Carey Read more
I would be really grateful if anyone could assist with the following problem and what to look for to resolve? The vehicle has an intermittent hot start problem and when it occurs it will not start until the car has cooled down for approx 30 mins. Spark plugs are Ford OEM and been changed recently, HT leads are in good condition and battery tests show it fine and healthy. Engine is the 1.8 Petrol Zetec-e Not sure what to look for next? Thanks for the advice, will seek a specialist locally and take it from there, coil seems alright and the diagnostics are showing with no faults. It really has me scratching me head.
You can pay those tolls online or if you're headed for the ferry at Dublin port you can just pay cash at the petrol station there. It's a bit confusing as there is no toll barrier but there are overhead gantry signs telling you you are passing through a toll point. Easy enough to miss though if you're not expecting it.
