Simple fact is Halfords employ enthusiastic youngsters to fit radios etc at the branches. They are not time served Auto Electricians worrking out of professional premises. At our local Halfords the fitting area is a garden Ezeup type tent, not exactly confidence inspiring.

If you want a professional job go to a professional or if you are able to read follow the instructions that the Halfords kids use and do it yourself. How hard can it be.

I recently read that the crash for cash fraudsters have come up,with new scam, flash and crash. Unsuspecting drivers are targeted by by crooked drivers flashing them at junctions, car park or petrol station exits, to proceed only to then speed up and crash into them. Without an independent witness, that actually saw the crook flash their lights, it becomes the standard he said, she said scenario.

Given that so many cars are now having front and rear parking cameras fitted as either standard or an option, isn't it about time these became duel purpose? Why can't these expensive bits of technology also become driving cameras, running on a continuous loop and protecting drivers from these crooks, as well as being a very valuable tool to those investigating 'genuine' accidents and incidents? ... the only way to ensure that you don't get hit in the above situations is to assume all other road users are idiots and its true that most probably are.

Don't be daft, T'bird. There is some poor driving, but it's arrogant to suggest that you may be the only non-idiot out there....

The air bag warning light on my Kia Sportage XS year 2006 is now permanently on.

Looking at the internet forums this seems to be quite a common issue and not just with the Sportage.... Read more

Can anyone tell me if they have had any dealings with a second hand motor trader operating under the company name Chelsea Harbour International Cars in Bracknell? I recently purchased a vehicle from the owner calling himself "Dave". The guy is a real sweet talker an stupidly I agreed to purchase an apparently low mileage vehicle from this guy only to find out that pretty much everything he said was a lie. Firstly there were NO documents with the vehicle at which point I should have walked away but was promised that all the documents including the Log Book would be sent by special delivery post the next day. Having brought the car I waited patiently then kept calling Dave only to be fobbed off with excuses that Royal Mail were the ones responsible for the delay. Needless to say I never received Any documents to date. The worst part of all was that I later did a HPI check an saw an alert on the National Millage Register showing a discrepancy. The car was sold to me stating it had 8000 guaranteed miles on the clock. The NMR check showed it had last registered with 89000 miles. Yes I feel very stupid for being cheated out of the better part of nearly £2000. The guy has a website www.chealseaharbourintcars.co.uk with almost all his cars devoid of any information regarding mileage.

What can I do from a legal stand point in terms of the the civil & criminal law? Many thanks Read more

It is just a very light redesign externally from the Duster, but I find the rear more attractive on this.

I wonder if they'll upgrade the interior.... Read more

Not worth it on an old car. Buy a car fitted with cruise control and better seats to support your back.

Hello. I got Golf Mk2 1.6 PN with Pierburg 2EE. Recently it started to rev in idle. Revs fluctuates 800 to 1.800 rpm. And also the vacuum powered idle valve actuator isnt moving back in so the buterfly valve stays open. I didnt find any vacuum leak. Also oil pressure gauge is leaking but I dont think its related. Tested coolant temp sensor. Looks fine. I dont have any ideas. Please help! Read more

Replace "ALL" the vacuum pipes they are rubber internally and rot in time. Not always obvious due to the braid outer. Most of the VAG cars around this time with carbs were notorious for this.
