Drivers middle lane hogging, tail gating, and using mobile phones phones, face tougher penalties from today.
Why do these cars rarely go wrong Read more
lucky you, I had a mitsubishi video recorder, and camcorder, after 15 years both have died and have had to be scrapped
My company has changed car policy and I need to return the Freelander I have been driving. I will have a small cash payment but not enough to buy a car outright. I'm wondering whether to take a gamble and buy a cheap car at auction,or to go for one of the finance offers on a new one. I do around 28000 miles a year around half being business. I will only be getting statutory mileage for this. I have looked at a used Freelander from the dealer, a new Audi TT and a new Beetle Cabriolet. Would love to stay with a Freelander but trying to work out if would be better mileage wise and personal mileage to have something cheaper on fuel such as the Beetle. The car needs 4 seats and needs to be fun or unusual, does anyone have any ideas or experience of the best pence per mile? I live in a rural area so also needs to be something that will survive poor road conditions in winter in the way to the main roads.
Thanks in advance! Read more
Don't buy a TT to travel 28k miles p.a. in. Your spine and backside will not thank you!
Picked up a 2010 qashqai Tekna 3 weeks ago.
Went out for the first time in the dark one night last week. Left the headlights on auto. When we started the engine and the lights came on the did nothing and remained very low to the ground. Put the main beam on and didnt adjust.
Then about 10 minutes into the journey the lights suddenly came to life and went to the correct height level.
One thing the salesman told us about the car when we picked it up was some numpty in the workshop had left the ignition in the wrong setting and drained the battery. Could this have caused it and it needs to be resynced or is a more serious problem?
Hubby is sure it happened again tonight but it was dusk and couldn't really tell. Just tried them on the drive and they are high up and not pointing to the ground so seem ok at the moment. Read more

Black fuel? Don,t like the sound of that.Perhaps there is contamination in the tank. You may need to remove tank and clean and flush fuel system. This will cause erratic running.

What's better? I've never had a diesel engine in 45 years driving. Concerned about DPF reports. Should I now go for diesel or stick to what one hears is a poorer performing petrol version? Graham Upson Read more
DPFs are only an issue on diesels when a petrol would have been a better choice for other reasons, ie for low mileage users.
in other words DPFs are only an issue when they cause problems.....hmm..........
Washer reservoir only letting enough liquid out for a quick squirt. Have tried flushing out with hose pipe. Dont fancy removing wheel and plastic inner wing to gain access to the reservoir. Any ideas for a quick fix? Read more
bit the bullet and did the job. just over the hour.
after removing the top bolt and two on the bottom of the reservoir there still seemed to be something stopping it from dropping down. after a few minutes jiggling it came free. just an awkward shape round the contour of the wing. cleaned gunge blocking filter. most of the gunge seemed to be stuck to the top of the reservoir. i think some must have dislodged and dropped to the bottom where the filter is housed. flushed through with hose pipe. impossible to remove it all.should be trouble free for a few years now. manfacturers know this problem will not arise within the warranty period so not much thought is put into its design. but cant complain the only fault from new....
Top Gear appears to have disappeared from i-Player. I had the latest series on "series record", but it's all gone!
I've googled, but there doesn't seem to be a direct answer.... Read more
Did you download it onto your computer or Sky box?
Either way, downloads come with an expiry date, usually 7 days from when the programme was first on.
Well after market extended warranty has always been dubious to me but after much reviewing of the many companies available I took one out with Warranty Wise after reading Quentin Willson's that they are different and no small prints and they are the best.
I bought a Mercedes A160 and as I do not know anything about Mercedes I decided to take up an after market warranty with Warranty Wise. All necessary information was supplied and they accepted the policy after asking me to send a picture of the odometer to verify the Mileage.... Read more

Passing on the inside and outside works well in the USA where the majority of people seem to stick to the speed limit, there are fewer cars and far fewer trucks/lorries.
However (back in the UK) if drivers were aware that they may be 'undertaken' they may well be more inclined to move into the correct lane. ...
