Both Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo are busy developing totally new engines following their sell-off's from Ford, not a cheap exercise.
Despite their much larger sales volume, Ford couldn't afford to develop new diesels on their own so had to enter a joint arrangement with Peugeot Citroen.... Read more
Wonder if someone could offer some advice please.
My Corsa is making a whining noise which get high and lower pitched in line with revs only in 3rd & 4th gears.
It stops whining when I push the clutch down and I can't hear it in any other gears. Also if clutch is down and I rev in those gears whilst driving there is NO whining.
I've had no trouble in selecting gears and no trouble with the clutch.
The car is a 58 plate and has done 70k and only a few weeks ago passed a full service with no probs.
Cheers for any help or suggestions.

The only thing you can do is check the gearbox oil level, if its OK then its just wear in the gearbox which you can do nothing about without removing it. If its not ear splitting I would just put up with it.
You are parked on level 2 of 3, the pay as you leave ticket machine is out of order, you go down to level one, that machine is out of order so you go up to level three, it's working so you pay and legs aching get back to the car and leave. You get to the barrier and it's been open all the time and you can just leave and needn't have paid at all! Read more
yes, but it would be even worse if you found you had 'timed out' when you got to the exit barrier ....
how do you weaken pump so that it is not smoking so much have back pump timing of it is better but still a bit to much starts very well from cold no smoke and runs smoth straight from start but smokes a lot when on throttle it is diesel not oil and black Read more
We don't normally make a big issue about correct English on this forum, but in this case I do agree with the comments above.
We'd like to help, 56512, but there's no point in my moving this to Technical as I normally would, as I think it would defeat most people who kindly offer advice. You do need at least to make yourself clear, particularly as your E-mail address suggests that English is your first language.
Hi,
just got a new car about a month ago and now contacted by RetainaGroup. Apparently this company has put stickers in the windows of our car and want to charge £25 to register us as owners of the car.
Doing this they claim will massively reduce the likelihood of the car being taken and if it is taken mean there is then a greater chance of it being returned to us.
I don't really see how this is possible just by having some stickers in the windows of the car?
Especially as the stickers are there already. How will a thief know if we have paid the £25 or not?
And once stolen, wouldn't the thieves simply remove the stickers? In the same way they remove / alter the VIN ?
Overall am I missing something here? Anyone any experience of this company?
cheers
D

Think you have answered all your own questions but have you actually seen the "stickers" on your car or do they want to do the work. In truth they are not stickers, the numbers are etched into the glass.
If somene had etched the glass on my new car at the dealers without my permission I would be fuming
I have a peugeot 406 Hdi 2001 rapier . The diesel priming bulb burst leaking diesel whilst driving. i replaced the bulb with a multi purpose one. When i turn the ignition on and the lift pump in the tank cut in the priming bulb expanded to twice its normal size . I tried again, this time i started the car same happenedso i stopped the car . Disconnected the fuel line to the hp pump and put the fuel line into a container , turned the ignition on fuel bulb ok . There is a fuel line that comes off the top of the hp pump , disconnected this and put the end into a container, turned the ignition on ,priming bulb again expanded to twice its normal size so switched off the ignition . i could see what i thought was a pressure regulator on the hp pump so i went to the local breakers and aquired a pressure regulator , a priming bulb and some relays . I replaced these on to my car turned the ignition on, the priming bulb expanded and felt solid, started the engine it ran about 5 mins, then the connection on the bulb blew off . To much pressure ? , Reconnected the conctection and put extra jubilee clips on . i then started the engine , priming bulb still seems over pressurised to me . The lift pump in the tank was replaced last year , the fuel filter was changed a month prior to this happening. Anyone got any ideas . cheers Kevin Read more
I didn't realise that were fitted with a priming bulb if they had an in tank pump, however, if the pressure is excessive it will be the regulation of the in tank pump that's at fault.
hi guys my cig lighter wont light up on my motor iv replaced the bulb and checked the fuse but no joy i think its fuse number 36 on fuse bord please help its doing my head inn Read more
Hi,
I am thinking of changing my car and are getting confused with car insurance. Hope someone out there can give me some advice.
If I have another 3 months car insurance to run on my current car, when buying insurance for the new car, do I have to use last year's No Claims number of years? Is there a way to make use of my 10-month worth of "no claim" so far for this insurance year?
Also when I sell or part exchange the current car, will the insurance becomes invalid immediately as it's owner has changed? Do I have to notify the insurer too?
Thanks Read more
Usually your insurer will amend the details of your existing policy so the policy covers the new car. You'll normally pay an admin fee for this service plus any difference in the premium on a pro rata basis. The only time this might be a problem is if the new vehicle is of a much higher insurance group on the existing car and they are unwilling to cover you for that vehicle. You'll then receive a renewal notice at the end of the year as normal-then you get to use your NCD.
Your policy won't become 'invalid' when you sell the car since you do not need to be the registered keeper to be insured to drive it. You would still want to inform your insurer/broker just in case the new owner gets involved in an incident.

Hi, my father has a 2008 5 door SX4 which needs a parcel shelf. We have found on via the net at a salvage yard but it's in a 61 reg model, does anyone know if this new parcel shelf will fit the 2008 model? Thanks. Read more
Don't think you will find many people complaining about the new Ford/PSA diesel engine. As mentioned above, they are fitted in a large number of car models from a surprising number of makers. No-one has come on here to moan about them. I am very happy with my 2.0TDCi. It does its job.
