In the market for buying a new (used) car.
I use the car for daily motorway/dual carriageway journeys of around 10 miles each way. Some but not a great deal town driving. Can go for days without even seeing a traffic light. :)... Read more
Does my car have a DMF? Does it also have a Chain or Belt cam drive? Read more
BMW's have poblems due to stupid long life oil used in long life on board computer based time and distance servicing. That said BMW are complex cars its not just timing chains but also swirl flaps, dual mass flywheels, egr valves and turbos that fail with increased frequency.
Every 4 valve diesel uses swirl flaps. This is not a BMW specific problem...
Fitted new sensor/hub to front passenger and fault still present , have tested for resistance with other side on the two pins and readings are the same, fuse ok also, fault will not clear in omitech diagnostic.
Can anyone suggest possible causes .

Once you've read all the tests and listened to all the advice and evaluated all the data, one last thing to do - spend some time comparing photos of the two cars, from all angles -
I know which one I'd choose on looks alone - tha Aston Martin !!

OK after a brilliant flash of knowledge picked up on the net I have resolved my issue,
I have a spare set of wheels with winter tyres for my newish (new model) Mazda 6. The dealer said that I need to make sure the original wheels are replaced on the same hubs and in exactly the same position after winter, because of the TPMS (and that there would be a warning light all the time when I'm using the spare wheels).
Is this correct though, because I understand there are no sensors in the wheels or tyres, but that the TPMS on this car is somehow related to the ABS system?... Read more
Thanks, that does make sense. I think the service manager must have had previous models in mind that use sensors not the abs system when he gave me advice about the hubs etc.

I have been gifted a fairly nice MotorCycle jacket that is several years old.
I would like to clean it and condition the leather jacket.... Read more
Leather jackets and leather care products can be purchased from most .... such as a military style women ' s leather jacket or a petite size motorcycle jacket.
For 100 miles a week of easy motoring, I'd pose some questions: why spend £9,000? At relatively small annual milages, the depreciation and purchase cost (and a service) are likely to far outweigh the variable fuel costs (say from 40 to 50 mpg).
For £5,000, you could get a great....well anything really. And spend the £4,000 saved on a motorbike for the summer months.
