Hi,
I bought a used car a few months ago, Ive not been getting on with the car and have decided to move it on.
I did a check online (HPI) and established that the car was actually Cat C as opposed to a Cat D which I was told at the time of purchase and is documented on the invoice.
I would not have bought the car had I known it was a Cat C.
Can anyone offer any advice from a dealers point of view as to whether the dealer has fulfilled their obligations or if I have in fact been mis sold the car and as such would be covered under the Sale of Goods Act.

Been running a Skoda Fabia 1.4 VRS for 2.5 years now and we are looking to replace it in Spring 2014 when the lease runs out (its a company car).
Have loved the effortless acceleration , the DSG gearbox and the fact it is small so great for driving round town.... Read more
but on the motorway who cares?
Surely soggy steering is an advantage on motorways as sharp, twitchy steering can become tiresome on motorways?
My mother in law needs to replace a 13 year old KA, she's 65 so wants this to be the last car she buys, as you can guess her milage is low around 5000 miles a year.
She has a budget of 5-6K. Is she better getting a brand new budget model Dacia, Checvrolet etc.. nearly new citroen C1, fiat 500 or slightly older ford ka, toyota ka.... Read more
C1/107/Aygo are really good simple reliable little cars, aircon was an option so you'll just have to search till you find one, Aygo tends to fetch more but Toyota dealers are miles better than the others as to be worth paying a bit more.
Cheap tax insurance tyres etc, very easy to work on, fantastic all round vision for a modern car and last but not least that little 3 cyl engine is more tractable than most of the competition and proves almost impossible to stall which makes it a nice town car....
I am taking the car to France and Belgium for a few days. My breakdown cover (Call Assist - supplied by the dealer) is UK only. Can anyone provide recommendations for getting cover in Europe?
My existing cover expires at the end of November, so I would consider starting a new 12 month policy and overlapping.... Read more
Sorry, I am usually only in France, in a not very old car, and I buywhat is cheapest, as a life-boat, with little expecatation of having to use .it. reviews seem hatrd to come by!
Later this month, we shall be venturing out on a road trip, London to Scotland via Ist night and sightseeing in the Lake District. Personally I'd camp out, but with the wife and 5 year old child , we need pre-booked certainty every night, on a B&B basis

The dip-stick on this model is NOT the conventional stick with the "ring" pull up type. It is a solid unit which I would have thought just pulls up or unscrews. Neither of these two work. Is there another way of removing it or is just "stuck" Read more
I'm going to see a 10yo Wagon R+ with 100,000 miles on the clock at a main dealer tomorrow. When I called to book my test drive the dealer mentioned that they also have a 11yo Wagon R+ with only 15,000 miles on the clock. I've seen it being said that it's best to avoid ultra low mileage cars because they will have been used for short runs from cold starts which, as I understand it, can spell trouble. Isn't 100,000 miles, though, a bit high given that Wagon Rs are mostly used as urban runarounds? Another worry is that the high-mileage car has had 4 previous owners, which will affect its value if I decide to sell it on or, say, trade it in for a new S Cross in six month's time.
I've looked up the car in Parker's and Glass's guides as well as in Honest John's pricing guide, whatcar.com and autotrader (checked cars for sale in 200 miles' radius and averaged out the prices found), and there are huge differences in valuation. The price the dealer wants for the car is closer to Glass's -- could I use the other guides as a negotiating tool?... Read more
That's very helpful, thanks, and it confirms some thoughts I already had on the subject. I've checked other cars on sale on autotrader and have found three cars currently on sale from independent garages priced £550-£700 less than from the main dealer. I don't know whether the Suzuki main dealer car comes with a 12-month warranty or just the basic 3-month warranty required by the law. Supposing that it does come with an extended warranty included in the price, I wonder how much more it is worth paying for over the independent garages' price?
The log book (V5c) should have had an indication that it was Cat C as well. Cat C need a VIC whereas Cat D does not and this is in the log book.
