Are they still buildng them with the 1,8 petrol engine option? (all the deals seem to be for the gutless 1.6).
When are Vauxhall expecting to finish production?... Read more
With the news of a third child, I'll soon need to upgrade our trusty C5'estate(HDI). I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old + a newborn so it going to be child seat central. Must be economical but shouldn't struggle to pull a full load. Don't wont to spend more than 3k. I had thoughts of a Alhambra but a previous Sharan we had was plagued with underbody rust (might just of been a lemon). Any suggestions you guys can recommend? Read more
3 kids with one of them shiny new don't weigh much so a fully loaded car with 3 kids doesn't mean its gojng to be heavy despite the amount of clobber you need to carry. I've been in a 1.6 petrol Zafira, 4 adults and 3 children and it was pretty good. My Rottweiler weighed more than my 3 grandchildren at 4,3 and 2 years old.
DO anyone know if fords made any mods to the turbo regarding the oil feed on later models because i been reading some horror storys regarding the turbo failing ,i been reading up on issues regarding the turbo getting blocked and failing ,i want to buy this car but should i leave it due to the issues that can cause the engines to fail ,are all the ford engines affected by this problem .what can be done to prevent this from happening at the moment i have test driven the car and it drives ok the engine is quiet the mpg is around the 48 mark .the car as done 51000 miles with full history .should i deal or no deal . The OP raises a good question. Knowing about this problem on this engine, what preventative maintenance can existing owners carry out to prevent occurance?

Whilst I agree with the need for these cycle events, especially the charity aspect, I'm a local business in Fetcham that loses thousands every time the roads are closed! It is killing my revenue. I run a weddings business and need the roads at weekends. Surely there must be a compromise somewhere? Alternate the routes, only block a few hours before rather than from 5am! And whilst there are some considerate cyclists there are an increasing number of 'gangs' that cycle 6 abreast, block the road and shout abuse if you dare to challenge them! Have some consideration for those that need the roads for business and help to find a solution rather than just being abusive or dismissive and reinforcing the 'anti' cycle movement! It really isn't helping.
Its a 02 reg Skoda Fabia and looks great apart from the fact it has a loose bearing on the alternator and its MOT and tax are due on 1st Nov. Seller is aking 750 for it, which i suppose is a good price but i am uncertain what affect this loose bearing will have on the car, can anyone help?
Unfortunately i haven't actually driven it as i'm not insued but my mum drove it for me and she said it felt 'light' and she couldn't get the revs/clutch right. It could just be that she's not used to the car but not sure. Any advice would be great. I literally haven't a clue! Thanks :) Read more
I've had plenty of problems with alternators but never heard of a 'loose bearing'. The noise may be something serious. Noises are very difficult to diagnose unless you are a skilled mechanic, as distinct from a DIY person. I think you should move on.

Now that so many cars have alloys, is it really worth bothering with locking wheel nuts and the doofer which frequently gets mislaid (sometimes by garages, I might add)? Read more
No need to go and buy plastic wheel covers. Simply wander aorund and you'll find thousands discarded along the highways. Money saving tip #37.
Mine never fell off! I often replaced them, however, when they looked a bit tatty. My Rover 200 and 400 ones could be replaced for about £30 each which I thought expensive at the time but compared with and enduring damaged Alloy orn a expensive repair, was cheap. Anyway my current Golf's Alloys have polished mirrored surfaces which, I believe, cannot be repaired easily.
The rear windows on my xantia dont work can you help please

There is a switch on the dashboard to switch the rear windows off but that is not the problem, thre are switches on the centre consol which I checked and there is 12 volts but no power at the door switches, it was sugested that the wire going through the rubber pipe at the doors could be faulty but is it likely that the two doors would be afected, the car has only bone 65,000 mls

For the last few years steam special trains have run in July/August from Crewe to Scarborough. It has been worth a short trip to watch the return run up the 1 in 100 gradient from Huddersfield to the Standedge Tunnel, the loco (and firemen!) working hard to haul over a dozen coaches up the gradient, the sound of the exhaust audible from a long distance.
But tonight, hardly a sound as it approached, because tacked on the rear a Class 47 diesel loco churning out black smoke with the effort, pushing so the A4 on the front had little to do.... Read more

Your priorities make sense apart from not wanting something ugly. Try a Toyota Yaris - go for the 1.3 as the 1.0 is gutless. One of these a few years old with moderate mileage should give you good service.
