My last resort in these situations is undo the nut (a few turns only). Insert a cold chisel between the ball joint and the suspension arm and drift it out with a hammer. Then of course the ball joint just spins so you have to jack the ball joint taper back into the arm, undo the nut then remove jack. Have not worked on a citroen thank god so may not be appropriate. Citron is French for Lemon by the way!

The car has done 40,000 miles from new in our ownership. The clutch and DMF are the original ones. The car is used for mainly short journeys.

During the hot weather in July the engine when starting made unusual, loud noises and writhed about until actually running. This would occur each time the engine was started during each day. Then come the cooler weather in early August the engine started normally, quietly and no flailing about (coincidence?). At this point I took the car to my independent who made some checks and pronounced that 'it was not the clutch or DMF, which were fine, bring it back when it is making the noise'.... Read more

I cannot see how the problem can be caused by the DMF. It would not be so temperature sensitive, if it was the engine would do this everytime the engine bay heated up after starting the car.

I would be looking at a sensor that is sending a spurious reading that only gets the wrong message when a certain condition is met due to high temperatures....

Bought my new yeti in around march 2010 after a bout 2 months noticed when I was cleaning it thousands of fine chips along all the bottoms of the doors this is even with mud guards fitted front and rear, phoned the dealer who said ah yes we have a kit for that now ! car was fitted with a couple of clear strips on the back wheel arches and the doors re-painted. Stupidly I never realy checked the car but when washing never saw anything wrong with the paint work , until last week when I was up close to the bottom of the doors removing tar spots. The paint and cover strips are now peppered in chips and the paint is blistering. i'm absolutely fuming as I dont think a car of this age should be doing this. I've been told it's not happening with all the Yeti's. I'm still waiting to see if Skoda will rectify the problem again but not that hopeful as the car is out of warranty.

Can anyone give me any experiences or advise on this problem which I think the car has had from the design stage. A suggestion for the chipping was that the wheels are slightly proud of the wheel arches ? ... Read more

I would appreciate that 'magic' email address at Skoda UK as we are having great problems getting recompensed for a water pump failure in our 20 month old Skoda Yeti. Skoda Customer Services have shown no interest so far and have actually questioned whether the event really happened (despite us having an invoice and the old parts)!

I presume that means you did not have the work carried out at a Skoda Dealer, why not. All warranties clearly state that work can only be carried out by an authorised agent. In exceptional circumstances I have heard of people getting the work done by not official garages but in all cases the work had to be authorised before hand.

Hi,

About a month ago, my car began taking about 10-20 seconds to start. Two days later, it totally wouldn't start. I called my local garage who had to tow the car away after they failed to start it at mine. At the end of the day, they called me back to say the EGR valve was faulty and needed replacement. I paid £900 to get a new EGR valve from Honda fitted into the car.... Read more

So they replaced the fuel pump for £120 and now want another £1100 to replace the fuel pump.

Looks like they are slowly replacing every part at your expense....

Hi, just bought a car from private seller 2 weeks ago for 4.5k..he bought it from dealer in may for same money..found out that the dpf needs replacing( no warning light came on) as does the cat converter...local suzuki garage have quoted me 5.5k to fix this all...the seller of the car is spanish and is going back to spain in 3 weeks, speaks tiny amount of english, but my question is i have heard that the dealer has a responsibilty for 6 months after they sell it... but does that pass on to me as the new owner of the car??

I have no money so cannot afford to repair this car, and am really stuck as to what my options are??... Read more

Hi there I'm hoping you can give me some advice regarding a forged signature on my log book.

I visited a very well know Dealership as we were buying a new car. I asked them if they would be interested in buying my 2006 little 107 which had only 14,000 miles on the clock, was immaculate condition and a semi-auto. I was unable to trade in as I was getting a mobility car. They offered me only £2,750, I said I was looking for more than that due to such low mileage. He told me to think about it, so 6 weeks passed and we were told to collect our new car as they don't deliver mobility cars we had to go in my car to collect it. When we arrived they told me they were now only willing to pay about £2,000 for my 107 which I refused.

The problem now was that we were going on holiday the next day and had no way of getting my car back home. I had cleaned the car and had the log book because I thought I would have been able to negotiate a better deal. Anyway, I was told to go away enjoy our holiday leave the car with them and they would text me an offer and sort it all out when we got back.

Problem was on our return they had SOLD my car without permission and we had never received a text from them. How stupid I feel to have trusted them, we had a big row and I settled for £3000. I complained to DVLA and they phoned me and said that I had signed section 8 and it was no longer my car. They sent me a copy of the log book and my signature had been forged. When I accepted the money they told me they didn't need me to sign the log book.

Why did they forge my signature if it wasn't required? DVLA had blocked out section 6 and the other part of section 8 as that was obviously the new owner details. The dealership had also sold it only 3 days after we left it with them.

Is there anything I can do? I have never signed anything, not even when they gave me the cheque, they didn't ask me to. I know I should never have left the log book but I honestly believed that I could trust them, after all they are not some 2 bit dealer and as I had never sold a car before I thought it was safe to leave it as I didn't sign the log book. Good post - I think it sums things up well.

As regards the forging of the signature - an offence, certainly, but what is the fall-out from it? Nil. I doubt if the police would be interested....
