I was thinking of buying a 1-2 year old petrol qashqai +2 for my dogs as i like the boot room, driving position and space. However i've read some dire reviews of the car with numerous problems. I was wondering if anyone had an independent opinion (unlike the cut and paste what car, auto expres etc) opinion or even better experience of a +2 petrol model. Read more
When slowing down to about 10-15 mph, when I let my foot off the brake there is quite a loud "clunk" from the rear brakes. Has anyone else experienced this, if so is it normal, or should I have it checked out under warranty. Read more
Information. Clunk stopped, all fine. However when I filled the car the noise started again. Phoned Jaguar and apparently it's somthing to do with the securing/insulation around the fuel tank which they know about. Booked in for modification.

Leeds-Cardiff and back. And how happy am I not to have to spend my working day on the road!
It led me to wonder how areas will cope with traffic increases over the next 20-30 years. At a basic level all motorways will need to be 4 lanes and in some areas 5.
Managed motorways such as the M42 are all well and good, but when its bumper to bumper with a 40 limit, yet hard shoulder running is not permitted thereby reducing capacity, what is the point in spending the money on the system to permit hard shoulder running?!
I was happy to get 46mpg over the trip. Read more

My sister in law needs a new car since her Ford Ka has rusted away and did not pass MOT. Given that she wants as little maintenance as possible and has a budget of only £2000, I recommended a Japanese car such as a Yaris, Honda Jazz, Mitsubishi Colt Daihatsue Sirion, or a Kia Picanto or Hyundai Getz. Would it be possible to get a reasonable car of any of these types for £2000?
A futher problem is that she lives quite far away in Twickenham and neither I nor she has any clue of reputable car dealers. Are there websites where second hand car dealers are reviewed? Read more

I think the reason for petrol Tiguans being few and far between is that, unusually, the petrol 2.0 costs more (new) than the diesel with the same equipment level.
