I Have a 2013 focus zetec s fitted with 18" alloys. Due to 2 punctures in 3 weeks and the ford supplied inflation kit being useless, I am looking to buy a spare wheel. Ford supply a full size 16" steel rim for cars fitted with wheels up to 17". Would I be safe & legal to use this option. I do not think an 18" rim would fit the wheel well. My local ford dealer was not very helpful when I enquired there

Any advice on wheel & tyre size would be helpful Read more

An enjoyable read
vans.honestjohn.co.uk/features/vauxhall-astravan--.../

I did use to enjoy driving the astra vans, they where the fastest around.
The only problem I had with them was the back end would spin out if it was carrying weight and you took a corner to fast.
After a while you could gauge the corner and accelerator perfectly to get just enough roll to make you smile but also avoid any near misses.

I know Dacia have considered turning out a Sandero estate/panel van version and its still under discussion.

I do still think there is a market for such a van.
Especially if one of the big boys like Vauxhall pushed it.

I looked into these but found the lack of side doors would just be too much of a hindrance during day-to-day use.

As for the pendulum effect on handling, while carrying the full complement of tools and loads of scrap cable I went barreling into the 'spiral' coming off the M25 onto the A30 at Egham in my Berlingo and found the back trying to overtake the front - they all do that sir!

Nice post! Of course, individuals must be very cautious with their vehicles especially if they frequently go to other places with their family. Hence, individuals must look for reliable tyres from reputable companies like http://www.tyreland.co.nz to ensure their safety on the road. Read more

If ford use a similar system to Vag group cars I would suspect a faulty MAF sensor. When cold a default air fuel mixture is used until a certain temperature is reached, after that the Various sensors which control the mixture are taken into account.
The vacuum in the fuel tank could be caused by the emission control system which sucks fuel vapour from the tank into a charcoal filter for storage until it can be burnt by the engine at an appropriate time. If the the control valve which controls the process fails an inrush of air can appear at the fuel tank filler cap.

Hi,
The compressor is broken on a yaris.
I am contemplating getting a second hand working part & fitting it myself (with a mechanic friend!), then taking it to a local garage to get re-gassed. Few questions:

Is it ok for the compressor to drive a short distance (4miles) with zero gas?

Any advice on buying a second hand compressor? Otherwise a new non-toyota part is £405 delivered!

Any advice much appreciated Read more

The OP has asked the question since he wants to replace the compressor before driving the car to get it regassed.

Ah! So blindingly obvious that even I should have spotted it.

I'm looking for a little advice!

I own a 59 plate Mondeo (diesel) and it does the job of my 60 mile round commute perfectly. For various reasons (namely a new baby!), the Other Half is to have the Mondeo and I need a car for the commute.... Read more

Have a look for a Skoda Octavia, especially with the 1.9TDi engine.

You might be in late mk1 territory or early mk2 territory at your budget, but they're reliable well built and I think the Mk2's even have ISOFIX, as I seem to remember my 2005 estate had it....

Very comfortable ride and Skoda Yeti ? Come on, not a chance. OK, maybe it's not that bad after all, but I certainly wouldn't call it "very comfortable".

I'm hoping some of you nice people will have some advice for me. A lorry hit my car a couple of weeks ago on the motorway and my car has now been written off. I drove a Suzuki Swift, it was bought prior to my commute existing and I accept that it may not have been the best car for the job but it served me well and saved my life.

I would obviously like something economical and comfortable for a journey that often ends up with me sitting in a lot of traffic (M25). Other than that the only thing on my wish list is that I can fit my road bike inside it (amazingly it did fit in the Swift with the back seat down).... Read more

Drive the deal are £1500 cheaper for the base spec Auris 1.4 diesel they advertise.

Discounted New Cars are a dormant company, £3 of shareholder funds, no trading record since formed in 2010. Company worth is £3.00.
