Does anyone have any experience of having terraclean performed on their car ?

My subaru has been pinking main dealer cant find any issues. Some people on a subaru forum suggested it could be carbon buildup and a terraclean treatment might help especially as car spends most of time in london traffic. Its done 108000 miles.... Read more

www.guardian.co.uk/money/2013/may/11/credit-union-...e

Credit unions are currently being touted as an alternative to wonga ?

Reading the above ,they are going into liquidation at the rate of one a month because of bad debt .These poor oppressed individuals who are so badly treated by the likes of wonga ,won't repay their debts even when it's at a low rate .From premises that are subsidised by local authorities .

In a previous post ,I asked would you lend your money to wonga,s customer .

As a credit union goes into liquidation ,the depositors are guaranteed by the taxpayer up to £85,000 . The end result is that as a taxpayer your not lending your money ,your giving it away .

Wonga charge high rates , in part because of the high default rate among thier borrowers ,the borrowers that do pay subsidise the ones that don't .

Wonga are an irresponsible lender ? Ripping of the poor and desperate ? They reject 60% of all applicants . Read more

Spanner of the week has to go to the pensioner cyclist who yesterday accused me of being somebody else!

There I am, toodling down the road when I observe a black Audi back out of his drive rather quickly and nearly take this old dear out. He then turns left about 20 yards further up.... Read more

Does anyone have any knowledge and/or experience of the viability of satisfactory welding repairs on a 1993 Cavalier.

I have such a car, but rather than scrap it, as it appears in basically sound condition, I was contemplating restoring it to nearer its former glory. However, before I spend much time on it, I need to know the feasability of welding repairs should I discover the need for any.... Read more

Sounds like coil pack/s. When you accelerate hard the pressure in the cylinders increases, this makes it more difficult for the spark to jump the gap. You may be able to find out which one by closing the plug gap on one cylinder at a time, reduce it by 1/3rd and see if the fault dissapears.

I must admit that our experience with a 2007 Civic FK3 2.2 CTDi (owned from new) was that it was far from reliable, numerous suspension faults and a general feeling of fragility. It was the only car in 20 years we've owned that refused to start on the driveway. The dealers were charming but completely unusued to dealing with unreliable cars.

Left me with the feeling that Hondas are fragile, I'm sure Honda would have continued with 'good will' but I actually don't want the hassle of visiting the dealer regularly. We traded it in 'early' for a Golf, have bought 2 VWs and a BMW since and am in no rush to go back to Honda. Our most recent Golf has suffered a cup holder failure and I must say how disappointed I am in VW.... Good job the Twincharger and DSG are working reliably I guess as 100% of them go wrong - apparently. whereas all Hondas are peerless, apparently.

So buy new: Honda. Buy used: Hyundai. Buy posh: Lexus!!
Excellent news for me, was considering buying an i30 over a Fabia, looks like I'm on the right track. Particularly impressive considering the Hyundai cars are older, if we assume people buy an aftermarket warranty as soon as manufcaturers runs out, and are the cheapest to repair on avg.

Interesting to see the Kia result with cars >7 years, not too bad really. But might also be skewed in Kia's favour as modern cars seem to be turbocharged into an inch of their lifes! + modern TDI cars seem to have reliabilty issues. Maybe a factor?
Is there an 'adjusted index' for cars manufactured within the same year?...
