July 2013
Having bought my 2013 Model a year ago a foc annual update for the satnav was part of the deal. I promptly received 4 cd's of this years version which had to be loaded into the cars cd computer in numerical order. The first disc was accepted, all others were rejected as being the wrong cd. Navtec, the Dutch originator , referred to Volvo as being responsible for the hardware (reminds me of the problems with our first computer bought some 30 yrs ago). Anyway, having left the vehicle with Volvo the service department advised me that Ip already had the latest version - disputed by Navtec since at the time of purchase the 2013 version did not exist. The dealer then admitted that there were technical problems which he would sort with Volvo UK and phone with result within 24 hrs. Having waited for 1 week (by the phone) I contacted him again - reply: he hadn't received anyhthing from Volvo - and will chase them. That's the last I heard. Volvo themselves advised me that a technical person would not talk to me unless I am a dealer. Catch 22. Who would be capable to update the system if Volvo is unable to deal with it - and where am I standing legally considering that the updates are part and parcel of the original sale. Read more
My friend has the above car and cannot find the internal fusebox. Online enquiries suggest it is on the end cheek of the dashboard on the passenger side but the little panel that removes even though the inside of the panel has a diagram of the fuse layout embossed on it!! All she wants to do is replace the fuse to the cigar lighter!!!
Any ideas please??!!!... Read more

Intrested to read about the ford focus cc leaking roof. I also encounted this problem with my car. The garage changed the roof rubbers but it still leaked after a few months. So with the roof down I put hydraullic grease on the roof rubbers and it has not leaked since (two years) It is quite simple to do and not very expensive just make sure you spread it as evenly as you can Read more
I have a cc3 which, luckily, does not leak at all. I treat the seals with a milky liquid put on with one of those sponge applicators like a shoe cleaing device. It is call Gummi Pflege, £10 for 2 on e bay and there is something very exotice called Swiss Vax which is £40 a bottle. For my assistance please would you explain what is meant by "Hydraulic Grease"? I might try some before the winter.
Hi All,
Hoping someone can please take the time to offer us some advice. I have rejected a car within 6 months and the car was at the dealers premises after we stopped driving it. I just got back from work today and the dealer has had the car towed back to my house while my wife was out and parked it outside our house.... Read more
I can see why the OP is miffed but I still think they should seriously consider whether it is worthwhile.
I am mystfied as to why the dealer or the OP ever spent any money on this car in the first place. It wasn't financially vaible to do the gearbox IMO and it was clear it was a duffer. The dealer should have just taken it back, maybe sold the OP another car and punted it through the auctions. That would have been better, and cheaper, for both parties....

Is this it, HandCart? I think so. A Google search reveals variations, but they are only slight.
My radio keeps asking for the code and once I enter the correct code and press 5 it asks for the Code again.
I've been entering the code correctly.... Read more
I recently purchased a car and the seller was less than honest about the condition of the car it needed repairs carried out at quite a alot money £££'s maybe more. The issue is the seller had a cherished plate on the car but did not remove the number before the sale. I purchased the car with the plate on it and taxed and insured the car with that plate on it, the next day the car would not start the battery was completley flat. I tried to contact the seller to see if the battery needed replacing or was it something he had forgotten to mention! surprise surprise he never returned any calls or texts. So I took a chance and I purchased a new battery at £78 the car started okay. One week later the seller contacted me, he never mentioned the battery at all but wanted his number palte and asked me to sign some paper work and give him the tax disc from the car so he cuold transfer the plate. I refused to do this as it's illegal to drive without a vaild tax disc on display, I asked him to bring me the paper work and I would do the transfer and post him back any relevant documents, he still insisted I sign the documents and give him the tax disc but I still refused this. He has not been in touch since(1 month). Now in the mean time the car has suffered from some problems that are going to cost alot of money it needs a new inlet manifold and possibley more, Park assist never worked and needs repaired it had been turned of to cloak this also there is problems with the fog lights not working and could also cost £££'s. I know I should have check everything but i thought it was ok the car seemed to drive well but I had no knoledge of the these cars this all happened within the two weeks of owning it. So would I be the legal owner of the plate? and would I be alright to sell the plate on the car to cover the repair costs to the car any help would be gratefully recieved on this Cheers
P.S. I have already had to pay for the maf, map, egr and throttle body to be cleaned and checked Read more
Assuming you aren't fussy about keeping the plate yourself, definitely sell it. This chap has clearly sold you a turkey, which you are now stuck with and which will cost you money. The fact that he has the audacity to phone you and demand his number plate back is incredible! He is either very stupid or very cocky; could it be that he didn't initially intend to have it back but since you accepted the car in a poor condition he thought he might try his luck? It's fortunate that the tax disc issue arose or I presume you would have surrendered the plate to him?
Next time he phones, if he does, tell him quite firmly that you have discovered numerous defects with the car, he clearly ripped you off and you have sold the plate in order to recover some of your costs - even if you haven't sold it at that point, tell him that you have so he has no reason to bother you any further. If he carries on tell him to get lost or you'll park the car in his front room!
Afternoon, My girlfriend has just taxed her Lupo (1.7SDI 1999) and been charged £225, an increase of nearly £200 on last year. The car only emits 119gr of CO2 and so we have always benefited from cheap tax. Is this massive increase correct? The literature appears to suggest it is after the last budget...Thanks. George

The rates based on CO output only apply to cars registered after 2001 thus the 119 CO deos not apply to your 1999 Lupo and never has.
For an engine above 1549cc the current rate is £225, last year it was £220 thus has increased by £5....

Navteq do not appear to update the maps for the in-built sat navs that often. It is more than likely that your 2013 model contains the most up to date map which may be why the discs were being rejected.
