Evening all,
The missus is on the lookout for her next motor and has taken a liking to a nice big pick up. We're looking at a Mitsu L200, double cab and probably in 'Animal' spec, or failing that possibly a Navara. Main stumbling block is the insurance, bearing in mind that these are technically commercial vehicles rather than private cars. There are plenty of these beasties knocking around and a fair few of them seem to be immaculate and clearly not working hard for a living, so I'm hoping we might have a few members here who can recommend insurers who offer sensible rates for private use? I have a 2006 Mazda 6 Diesel 2.0 that I had remapped by Extreme Ecu remaps about a year ago and since then I have driven the car about 10k without any issues.
As of a week ago my car stopped picking up revs e.g. with car in neutral you can floor the accelerator pedal but all it does is rev up to 1500 and then drops to idle, then tries again and again. If I try to drive it just stalls.... Read more
Seen this before. Owner thinks a bloke in a shed with a laptop can improve what a manuacturer spends 1000's of hours developing.
It always amazes me that people are so gullible....

I have just had a long life service (having done 74,000 miles).
I was advised that both solenoid motors to the handbrake have developed fractures to their casings. This will apparantly allow water to enter the motors and they will then cease to work. VW have quoted £1013.00 to replace them. I have looked at them and both have inch long fine cracks in identical locations on the casings. These fine cracks were found by the mechanics without even having to wipe them clean which leads me to beleive that they already knew they would be there! I was advised to paint them with hammerite to delay the ingress of water. Has anyone had similar problems? I do feel that this must be a design fault for which VW should take some responsibilty! I don't think you will get any help from VW.
That needs to be part of their signage, maybe in luminous 4 ft high letters on a massive heli blimp floating about 50ft over the dealership....
I found that if you use a felt permanent marker to cover small stone chips and scratches,it covers as good as these expensive car scratch kits,I use a black felt tip on my Siggy, but you can use all colours, just make sure that they are the waterproof and permanent ones. Read more

Hi, yes its only after a hard drive. It seems to go once the engine has time to idle a bit.
It goes out of warenty soon,so I'm hoping the mains****** will sort this out FOC,but I don't want them to fob me off....
Now that my 2001 BMW (owned fom new)has gone to the great breakers yard in the sky. I need to find a replacement. The budget is £20k tops and I won't be buying new so any additions / comments as to what I should look for. I want another auto and would like a little more oomph than the old 520. My daily commute is around 90 miles so I'm guessing a diesel needs to be considered now as I'm currently driving a C - Max and getting 38 mpg (which is a pleasant change after my BMW)

A piece of information that you have to suspect the buyer has neglected to share with the CAB. Only reason I can think of for their advice being such utter cobblers.

How does anyone find that out without overloading a HiLux and thus breaking the law? Towing weights aren't a legal absolute - but Gross Train Weight is - and so is the 3500kg outfit limit without a tachograph if it's for commercial purposes.
