Hi all,
I have just received a letter from the DVLA informing me a penalty will be issued if I do not SORN my car. I bought a new (2nd hand) car a month ago and have kept my old car on the driveway taxed and MOT'd but with no insurance. I have been informed I need car nsurance as well - I wasn't aware of this.
So my question is - does anyone know of any Car Insurace company that will insure my car (Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 - 8 yrs old) on the cheap bearing in mind I will NOT be driving it at all? I hope to sell it in the next month or so. I have seen companies suggesting £60 for 1 week, my insurance was only £200 for a whole year - remember it will not be driven it is only so I can keep the tax so to make it easier to sell it.... Some companies sell short term insurance, eg for a week or month. Might work out cheaper than taking a hit with a cancelation charge. Check out moneysavingexpert.com section on car insurance.
Thanks for the reply - yes, can select all gears when engine running and not running.

on a long run from Oxfordshire -> Lancashire yesterday afternoon/early evening I got an indicated 34mpg over the journey and didn't even get through half a tank of fuel.
I think I should win some special prize for that. And no, I did leave & arrive the same day! Journey was ~200 miles & took 3 hrs.... Read more
"As this was 4 months ago, I can't actually remember if I did update the real-life mpg or not. Maybe I just talked about it.
I don't do very much city driving as someone else was asking, but so far, I haven't seen the 'average' mpg on the fuel indicator dip below 20mpg. It seems to sit around mid-20s ish most of the time"....
I own a 2005 Ford Mondeo Estate 2.2l TDCi. The rear Caliper is causing the hand brake to stick on just the drivers side. I am trying to find the best place to source the parts for. My mechanic priced one out for me at 230 Euro (I'm in Germany)! I found one in the past on ebay.de but he says they are junk. Being new to the european car scene, I don't know where to be looking, what brands are good or bad. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Collos. I have talked to a couple other shops and finding out that a good quality replacement is not cheap. 230 Euro for one caliper has me thinking how much I need a hand-brake...

Hello Chris, this lad is quite fortunate to have a Dad and a friend who are showing some faith in him. If he responds like I think a sensible lad will then he will learn a lot from the experience. Your investigation into the details have revealed that it does not take much to contibute and be able to hold your head up and take some pride in achieving something. Once he gets the work 'ethic' or habit he could make a success of being self employed or a good employee for someone else. A valuable life skill. All power to him. Cheers Concrete.

If you're definately going to play Russian or in this case French car roulette, then i would find a good competent make specialist indy of whichecer make is most convenient for yoy and go for that one.
Problems on either, and there will be, if going to a typical main dealer will see your trouser pockets hanging out like a couple of flags in the breeze..;)...

it is located behint the digital clock. i beleive you have to remove the plastics around the gearstick / ashtray or move them out the way at least. once its out the way there will be 3 little screws holding the bsi unit in. you will also have to remove the plastics surrounding the clock, radio etc. its a lot easier than i make it sound its hard to explain.
