Hello readers, my wife has an old but reliable Fiesta, I would like to drain & replace the antifreeze. But the spring loaded Circlip on the bottom hose is at an awkward angle and I am wondering how on earth to squeeze it to release the bottom hose.

Can anyone give me any tips please ?... Read more

The thermostat will close almost as soon as you start draining-and it will certainly be closed as soon as the fresh anti-freeze goes in.Thermostats have a small hole or a "nick" inthe edge of the valve to allow air to escape or the A/F to drain.

I live in Belgium and in May 2012 bought a second-hand Seat Alhambra from an out of town (Ledermann-Halle) SEAT dealer with a two-year Federauto warranty. The car ran well for 8 months despite a rather jerky upgearshift when driving at around 40km/h. HOWEVER - suddenly in January when driving at 50km/h the car felt like it flipped into first gear - producing crazy revving and massive loss of power. Restarting the engine solved the problem. Took car to local dealer (D'Ieteren-Fort-Jaco), where an error registered on the computer indicated a problem with the contacts from the gearbox, reset everything (under warranty) and gave me the car back with the proviso that if it happened again they could fix the problem by replacing a part.

Brief period when the car was fine, then two weeks later the problem recurred, but this time restarting the engine did not remedy the problem. Limped home in first gear - very scary. Had car towed to local dealer who ordered the part on 30 January 2013. The car has now sat at the dealer for 11 weeks waiting for the part. The part is 7M3713203e-mcu.... Read more

ISTR that Seat Alhambra's, VW Sharan and Ford Galaxy's were all built on the same production line... It may be worth looking in the other brands part bin.
I would be surprised it they did not fit the same parts. Badge engineering at its best.

We live in a rural area and have 2 cars : a 1L Yaris for short journeys and a 6 year old Lexus 200D for longer journeys. We get ~46mpg from the Lexus (on the meter).

I am thinking of changing the Lexus for a CT200h but I'm not sure that this will give me any fuel savings. Our journey split is, roughly, as follows:-... Read more

fuel consumption on CT200 on a long motorway run at a steady 70mph was 46mpg, same journey in a much larger audi diesel was nearer 60mpg.

Re: Forum Seat Leon FR or Skoda Octavia VRS

I was so close to go and view some Octavia VRS's until i checked the insurance quote which was ridiculously expensive. I checked insurance quotes on Seat Leon Fr and they seem to be reasonable.... Read more

I was very suprised at the quote as well, the Leon was much cheaper. The trader was good though to be honest - the deposit is subject to my wife liking the car so we are going down next to take it for a long test drove with my little girl.
