At the weekend, I was amused to see that Shell is rolling out an updated version of its V-Power premium fuel, called V-Power Nitro+.

Unfortunately, it contains no nitromethane, so it will not give your vehicle the performance of a top fuel dragster. However, it does contain "25% more friction modifier" than its predecessor. Read more

Friction modifiers can be good and bad - the railways use sand on the rails to get MORE grip - that's a friction modifier as well !

I was in my Private work carpark on Saturday and think i hit a BMW (heard a noise), i got out naturally thinking "oh dear, oh dear" and there was absolutely no damage to my car, no scratches or anything, it was perfect. Then i went over to see the other car and there was a massive dent and scratches and the number plate was broken, i went to get some advice from a couple of my collegues and they said there was no way i could damage a car that much and have no damage to mine, they said if i went in a said i'd hit it, he'd try and pin all the damage on me. They advised me to leave and not say anything. Have i done the right thing? or should i go back and confess i hit it and pay for all the damage even if it wasnt me? I am only 19 and have never had an accident, any advice would be greatly appreicated. Read more

Hopefully it has nothing to do with the belgian market. Does the 1.6 diesel basic model also have the suspension problem? I am thinking in buying recently but now hesitating with this break news. Could you kindly give some advises? Cheers! Read more

I bought Saab 9.3 sport 2006. For 4000 and have spent more than £3000 in repairs. In garage at minute needs alternator. Should I call it a day. Or is it worth any more repairs. Has 100000 miles on clock and have had to remove dpf filter. Read more

155,000 on a Ford Focus Cabrio, still on original clutch, nothing went wrong until 145,000 a few probs and now solid as a rock, still hasnt failed an MOT! . Fords often maligned but speak as you find!

I ran XMs for 15 years and although initially I had many problems once I got to know the car and did some rudimentary maintenance I must say that they served me very well. I was doing about 30k miles per year at one time and very rarely did I have a breakdown (or the car)

We drove to the far north of Scotland every year at least once and never failed to reach there or return home. The 2.1 diesel estates I ran would do in excess of 50 mpg on that journey, no special preparation we just got in and went.

I admit they were a complicated car for the time but they gave a superb ride on the hydropnumatic suspension which wasn't nearly as fear inspiring as many people believed, if you are familiar with basic physics and a bit of electronics you can repair them. Mine were all well secondhand and I maintained the from the scrapyard. I must have covered nearly half a million miles in them and I would still run one if most of them hadn't fallen to pieces.

Owned a 2003 for 8 years only problem was electrical but overall never needed a garage in between services and my slk was
fast and with wood / leather trim lovely inside. Sold 3 years ago and its still going strong. Main issue Mercedes servicing costs......disgusting. If you own one find a good local garage and stay away from the Mercedes garage con men!

Hi I have managed to save £3000 for a car, i cant afford anymore,

it needs to be automatic,
reliable,
cheap to repair,tax,insure
Economic
Under 1.6 preferably

Main use is school run, shopping, afterschool activities
I hardly ever drive on motorways
I do not drive fast

I have one child who is 7, we often have his cousins, so preferably 5 seats- our last car only had 4 seats so was not good for us (Suzuki wagon)

I liked the high driving seat of the Suzuki wagon, I also used to have an old scenic, I like a bit of space and good views to drive.

Not fussed on frills, just something that hopefully will be reliable for next few school years

Any advice or recommendations welcome, thanks Read more

Is it possible to replace my original equipment 'tuner list' CD radio in my 07 2.0 dCi Dynamique with a Cabasse Auditorium Tronic plus 6 disc CD changer. I've read somewhere that the two are not interchangeable - something to do with the wiring? Read more

I know that there are several versions of the Cabasse head unit. If I get the one with the single cd player, rather than the multi changer version, does that still have a separate amp? I've read on the Renault forum that the version with the multi changer has the amp etc elsewhere because there's no room in the head unit for it.

Hi, for the last few weeks my car has been shaky when idle, if it idles too long the engine management light comes on, sometimes solid and sometimes flashing. generally a week later it goes out, if it has been flashing a simple engine off and on usually clears it up. obviously something is wrong so i took to the garage...things they did:

they found a mis fire on cylinder 1 so they swapped the coil pack over 1 to 3 and 3 to 1, a couple of weeks later 188 mis fires on cylinder 1 still. They now want to strip the head and send it off to be looked at. they also mentioned it would be worth changing the timing belt while the head is off etc which i have read it good advice....
