I just found it a way for getting really really cheap AA Breakdown cover. In AA website, the quoto is £32/year, however, if you buy the policy using a cashback website you will get £20 back, so it works out 12/year only

Is it safe to charge the battery on my Honda Civic without removing it from the vehicle? I have a modern CTEK charger which is supposed to be safe to leave connected for long periods, but I just want to give it an occasional boost. Many thanks. Read more

Same here Kit. So, good on you. Carry on. See above.

My father has a 6yr old BMW 118 with only 32k. The local BMW dealer puts his car on an overnight boost charge each year it goes in for service. They certainly believe it's a benefit on cars that do not spend their lives on the motorway....

Hello everyone,

I have read lots of stories regarding the Lexus IS220d engine/EGR/CAT fault. My story is that I require a nee catalytic converter as this has "failed". Looking on the internet this issue is possibly related to a manufacturers engine/EGR/CAT faulty design.... Read more

At 20 years old and 140,000 miles (10 years / 70k in my ownership) this car owes me NOTHING! It currently drives fine for anything between 8-15 miles then the engine cuts out with symptoms like fuel starvation. It might start a few minutes later but it'll die just as quickly. If however it's left for a while it'll run again for quite some time.

I need to check that a fuel mist is entering the carburation unit under the air cleaner (I'm not expecting a problem here as it runs well when running) and I have checked for a spark which is not the best but it is a spark.... Read more

Thanks all. Resorted to a BOSCH diagnostic test. The tester couldn't read the codes on a car of this age (even though it connected properly) but he thought the coil was at fault - or Ignition Amplification Unit - as he liked to call it.

I replaced the coil and took it out for a run on Sunday. 15.9 miles - died, but restarted minutes later and went for another 60+ miles without a hiccup. The leads do not look too bad, I think they've been replaced before but I'll put on some replacements, clean the plugs, new air filter, distributor cap and rotor arm etc. and try again....

Hi Curly,

sorry it's been a long time, yeah Morris Lubricants are excellent quality oils. They don't do marketing like the major oil companies (which most people choose their oil by) so they rely on word of mouth mainly. They've been around since 1869. My dad got me on to them, he started using them in the 60's after experiencing engine problems in cars and bikes with Castrol and Duckhams oils. My brother and i used their 2 stroke oil in our motocross bikes with excellent results even when everyone else was having trouble with Silkosieze! My brother had a KTM SX125cc 2 stroke that he bought when it was 2 years old, he ran it for about another 2 years on Morris Race 2 without changing the big end bearings. The bearing finally failed just as he was heading out on to a 40 min practice session but he didn't realise until after the session had ended!! He rode it down to motocross bike mechanics who run a workshop at the track and when he stripped it apart there was no bearing there, the con rod was just bouncing around on the crank pin! He said big end bearing failures are common but this is the first one he's seen that didn't weld itself together. That is, in essence, how well engineered Morris oils are. Regards
