We test drove a Rio and the i20 last April. Sister cars. The Rio had much poorer rear visibility than the i20, and a poorer gearchange (not an issue for your father as he wants an auto).
We went for the i20.
Hi all... I've been looking high and low trying to find the Brake Caliper bolt torque settings, I just wondered if anyone here might be able to help please?

Hi
My wife got into the car this afternoon and couldn't get it in gear. With a bit of man handling I managed to get it into 1st, 2nd and reverse. There is no problem at all getting it into gear when the engine is off. We have booked it in to a local garage who reckon the clutch has gone.... Read more
Update
I drove the car to the garage on Sat morning to drop it off. Took it easy - had to set off in second gear as couldn't get it into 1st without forcing it and didn't want to cause more problems. Just up and down gears via double de-clutching and changing at low speeds. Some gear changes took a few goes but never forced it....
I was fully aware of 'personal injury' claims that are deemed dubious, but my daughter had a minor scrape with another car on a roundabout. She was in the wrong, no question, but the result was scratches to both cars: no one injured. She has now received a threatening letter stating she is to be sued for 'negligent driving'. Is this now standard? If it is the cost of car insurance is going to go through the roof.
We have put this in the hands of our insurer, but surely this is a costly step too far!... Read more
It's a fairly standard letter which is sent to the other driver by someone who wishes to make a claim against another.
It mentions negligence as this is the basis of them having a claim against you....
One of my colleagues just told me an amusing one. His fleet Civic Hybrid decided the other day that this electricity lark was strictly for the birds and that it was going to revert to being an ordinary 1.3 litre CVT Civic.
It went in to the local Honda place, whose diagnostic system disclosed that the entire Hybrid system was completely toes-upwards and they then proceeded to replace the traction battery and hybrid motor/generator as suggested.... Read more
Modern diagnostics can't tell if your EGR valve is jammed.. a very common fault. To change it, teh EGR vavle would need a sensor and cost twice as much..(in the aftermarket that is).

Vovlo 4x4 early models were terrible for destroying the diff if you did not have tyres of the same wear rate,I remember a colleague having to buy four new tyres when he damaged just one tyre an expensive exercise but this applied to many 4x4s Jaguar x types were terrible for destroying diffs if the tyres were badly matched something they don´t tell you when your buying the latest tin can .But I would think with a little luck you should be ok if you have come across the problem in good time.
