The turn-indicator audible warning tone on my 06 Sedici is very quiet: enquiries to Fiat say this is normal and the volume cannot be increased.

I had a CDti diesel estate with all the trimings at 130k its getting round to wanting a new timing chain,a new clutch both very expensive items, they are not as economical as you think they should be but very well equiped make sure the sat nav works and has the latest maps. Also make sure all the warning lights come on and go off when they should people have been known to tamper with the dashboard as cheap cure for a faulty ABS unit.

In real need of advice. Have decided on buying a second hand 2007, Toyota Avensis with pretty good mileage & service history. Have brought it for a test drive & today we are planning on organising finance. However, last night I did a preliminary HPI check on the internet, just using the reg from the Garage Website pictures & although, the Avensis we are planning on buying is advertised as a 1.8 VVTi Colour Collection, the HPI check brings up the following: AVENSIS COLOUR CTION VVTI

Year of manufacture 2007... Read more

HPI actually hold little data on the car - all they do is collate data from various sources, in this case from the DVLA.

The correct cc for the car is 1794 so it looks pretty clear that when the car was first registered someone misread a 7 for a 2 so that is what is showing on the V5....

Hi ive recently purchased a ford fiesta 1.3 T reg 1999 and problems already. Driving along the dash and rear lights went out, had the car looked at and was told that it was a switch on the stick. SO i took it back to the guy i brought it from as id only had it 2 days and he replaced one for the time being only thing is that i now have rear lights/dash and wipers but no indicators!! He was meant to call me back when he has another part but im not holding my breath. Ive seen the part on ebay but apparently there are two types one with 10 pins and one with 11?? if i purchase the wrong part then it will blow my wiper fuse. How do i know which one to buy?? And also the fuel comsumption seems remarkably high for a 1.3? think im only getting around 30ish MPG any ideas and help would be great

Hi, Tommorow I get my old car taken away and put the replacement on the road, I have told my insurance policy to switch from my old one to my new one tommorow, however I cant specify a time it just goes in as 00.00 by default, I wont get my old car picked up till the afternoon and cos of the stupid SORN and car tax regs I can only retax my SORN car tommorow morning and I need to drive the old car to the post office to get the tax to make the SORN car driveable.

So am I insured on my old car until I start using the SORN one during that day of the switchover? Are effectively both insured, or am I stranded and having to taxi to the post office to get my tax disc..?... Read more

The Prime Ministers salary being used as some kind of benchmark does wind me up. His £147,000 is pocket money, not a salary. He doesn't have to pay a mortgage because we also pay for his residence - though he does own a house in his constituency. He doesn't pay for transport because we pay to have him driven around in a convoy of Jaguars and we pay for all of his staff. I haven't even mentioned his incredibly sophisticated security operation. The likelyhood of him costing us anything below a seven-figure-number is very unlikely.

True, but we have to protect him. I really don't mind some people getting high salaries, as long as they work hard, and they are good. Maybe on second thought Cameron could take a pay cut ...

There was a news feature recently about the personal statement segment of University application forms and how the small group of kids from private schools can obviously put much better things on it. Such a child can put 'went skiing with Ben Fogle as part of geography field trip' where as the state school kid kicks a football against a wall....

I thought I'd share with the Back Room the fact I received my first ever speeding fine a few days ago. It occured early evening, doing around 60 on a NSL road which drops down to 30 as you go through a little business/residential area. I just let the car slow itself down as there was nothing else on the road, the road doesn't narrow or change in any way as you go past the 30 sign.

I saw a flourescent spec in the distance hiding behind a bush like a rapist and was clocked at 49mph in the 30mph limit. I explained to the noble Policeman what I just explained to all of you and he did see my point and noted himself that I was slowing down all the time from when he saw me. He did go on to say it's probably a bit harsh as I wasn't causing any danger (his words) but discretion is apparently limited these days and he had little option but to write me out a little pink slip.... Hello. This is my first post and I am hoping that there is someone on this forum that has seen the inside of a Ford Zetec 1.25 engine.
Whilst changing the timing belt on our Fiesta I had some difficulty torque loading the crankshaft pulley bolt, during the first attempt my homemade pulley locking tool failed and the engine turned about 1/8th of a rotation. Unfortunatly I had left the crankshaft TDC stop bolt inserted. This bolt did not bend or break but now turning the engine with this bolt inserted results in the crankshaft stopping some way passed TDC.
I have now completed the timing belt change and the engine rotates by hand without any sticking or strange noises. I am of course wondering what has been moved or damaged by the TDC rigging bolt. Any thoughts?

Simon.

Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread.

I did not have the time or suitable working conditions to remove the sump. So I have taken a gamble and started using the car. So far there don't seem to be any problems caused by this mishap. We have only had the car a few days although we have another Fiesta, a 1996 model of the the same engine size so I think I would notice anything untoward....
